Morning everyone,
We're overwhelmed by your fabulous support and energy - you've been amazing. Think we're not doing too badly at getting this freedom of speech issue out there don't you? (We particularly enjoyed MorningPaper's retraction.)
Look out for BBC, ITV lunchtime news, C4 at noon and London Tonight today.
And thanks to everyone who's written to us. I'm really sorry that we've not been able to get back to everyone individually - it's only me and Olivia here this week as all the gals are off sunning themselves (great timing!) (Am sending regular text updates though) - and as you can imagine we're a bit up to our eyes.
Many folks have asked what they can do to help further. While we are extremely anxious that this should not become a campaign against Gina Ford, if you have strong views on the law and freedom of speech issues involved you could write to: other websites, your newspaper, your MP, the Law Commission, the Lord Chancellor, the Home Secretary.
A Mumsnetter, wannaBe1974, has also set up a petition here . We'll be in touch if we think there are any other useful things you may be able to do to help.

Thanks again for all your support.
MNHQ

THANK YOU MNHQ

Reece · 08/08/2006 14:00

Justine and all at Mumsnet. You are an inspiration to every mother out there doing the hardest job in the world!

Have paid CAT. Well overdue.

How come I feel I get more out of MN than MN get out of me????!!!!

There are few things in life that are so generous.

coggy · 08/08/2006 14:08

Watched ITV news...well done Justine!

Flamesparrow · 08/08/2006 14:08

Missed interviews, but even had my non-parent sister trying to phone me to tell me!!!

WideWebWitch · 08/08/2006 14:09

Even my MUM, who is a Daily Mail reader , posted a comment on the DM site (when you still could) and said she had invited nobody to sue her. She's not even a mumnetter but knows I am!

Gizmo · 08/08/2006 14:10

Of course you're going to get massive support.

We owe you - this is payback for all your support, over the years.

even ds1 pricked up his ears and said " hey its mn"

Angeliz · 08/08/2006 14:12

This all makes me appreciate Mumsnet so much and realise that it would be like losing a good friend were it to go!

fairyjay · 08/08/2006 14:15

Justine and team -
Thanks for all you're doing - we do appreciate it!

Thomcat · 08/08/2006 14:15

I've not been around for a week or so and just heard the Radio 2 piece and came straight on here to see what was being said.
Think you were brilliant Justine and just hope to God this all turns out well for you gurls and mumsnet in general. As a mother to a girl with special needs I don't know what I'd do without mumsnet. It's been such a huge support to me and I can't thank you and all Mumsnet members for that. Frankly I need mumsnet in my life and hope it will continue to be there for me and me for it.
My love, support, admirtation and deep gratitude - Thomcat xxx

Thomcat · 08/08/2006 14:22

Justine & crew - is there anything we can do. Like, I dunno, write grovelling letters, begging said person not to take mumsnet away from us, send them via mumsnet so you can make sure we don't say anything nasty and they can be passed on via lawyers?
Is that just a silly idea??????

heavenis · 08/08/2006 14:24

Excellent interviews, just paid my CAT too.

Xena · 08/08/2006 14:29

Sorry for all the trouble your having and thanks for all the support you have given me. The daily mail sums up very well the reaction imo.

Freckle · 08/08/2006 14:35

I know that I paid for membership some time ago - no idea how long ago. Does that cover me for CATs now? Should I pay again? I'm quite happy to pay if I'm due or indeed pay into a fighting fund (which I'm sure won't be needed unless nobody has completely incompetent solicitors advising her that a defamation claim is even remotely a goer), but don't want to confuse MN's accounting procedures.

I haven't yet heard any of the tv or radio coverage (am listening to the JV show on playback now) but have read the newspaper reports and am delighted that the vast majority seem to view nobody's actions with the same amount of bemusement as most sane people. Does she have a new book out??

Well done for keeping the camp fires burning, Justine et al, whilst some are sunning themselves .

Re nobody, do you think you can get a suntan from burning ears??

gladbag · 08/08/2006 14:37

I'm so impressed with Mumsnet's official responses - you're doing a fantastic job, although I'm fuming at the levels of stress and work you must be facing. I'd be bereft without mumsnet. I've paid my CAT too.

flashingnose · 08/08/2006 14:40

I've just paid for CATs too

anthonykiedisbitontheside · 08/08/2006 14:41

I'll promise i'll pay my CAT on the 16th when tax credit comes in (hopefully!) Atm I only have 72p in the bank lol.

lemonaid · 08/08/2006 14:42

OK, I've been too dim to work this out for a while now but in view of current crisis I shall out myself as dim for the greater good -- where on the site do I pay my contribution aka CAT fee?

Kiskidee · 08/08/2006 14:44

click on contact another talker above to pay CAT.

also click on it if you have paid and don't know if you are up to date or not. it tells you.

gladbag · 08/08/2006 14:44

I think that if you click on 'contact another talker' - on the bottom row of the headers above, it will show you the way.....
