Dear Mumsnet,
Hanging onto the 'I'm still a parent!' part of being a parent with disabilities is difficult enough without the reminder that we do, in fact, have Special Needs. So please, PLEASE support those Mumsnet users who are doing a fantastic job of parenting with a disability and place our board in parenting.
I've raised this a few times now and heard that a revamp of the boards will address this issue in due course. After more than a year of waiting, I think it's time this was done, regardless of other issues.
Apologies if this is coming across a bit militant - I'm fresh for a show-down with my local library board who have been cheerfully refraining from helping disabled members climb the long flight of steps to the entrance. Apparently, they 'can't afford' to put in a lift because it would weaken their own case for having a sparkly new library in five or six years time. I suppose I'm trying to say that anything relating to disabilities should be fast-tracked. Because life's hard enough for us.
