Is there a reason why clicking on a thread takes me to the end of the thread instead of the beginning?

Just that really. When I click on a thread in active conversations, I get taken to the end of the thread instead of the beginning. Is that something that's a deliberate change by MNHQ or has something gone wrong? Because I much preferred going to the beginning and if possible, it would be great if it would just go back to how it used to be. Pretty please.

It appears Tech has made a minor change to the site that has had unexpected side effects...
