Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow, straighten your bow tie and offer round those jelly babies... it's the first ever Dr Who name change competition.

Once you've done your brilliant Whovian namechange, post on this thread saying what your old name used to be.

On Saturday we'll create a poll of the best ones, and you lovely folk can vote for your favourite. We'll close it at some point . The winner will receive some sort of tat prize, not necessarily Who themed, but lovingly selected and possibly kissed by MNHQ.

I thought mine was delightful. But being Ood related, it was clearly entirely too obvious.

I wonder how they chose the short listed names? Did they have their own secret MNHQ poll of all the names?

Anyway - I have voted for the one I like best from the shortlist.

That was mentioned during Hallowe'en comp as well, MaryZ. Obviously HQ don't agree.

Tbf, some names don't change readily and you might have a great alternative idea... I think "are you my mummysnet" was pretty inspired punnery

I have nothing against those who are on the list, and I've voted for RussT which I think is a great name.

That's generally what we do - MNHQ feel that punliness is next to Godliness. Sometimes there are one or two that aren't strictly related but tickle us anyway, so get included.

Don't forget the Christmas name change is just around the corner
