A pop up telling me that I need to type a message first?

Just that really. It's happened a few times now, I think it's on chat but maybe AIBU too. I open a thread for the first time and it has a pop-up on the top of the page telling me that I need to write a message first with an 'ok' button. It also flicks to that tab rather than keeping me on active convos where I'm opening every thread that looks vaguely interesting

i will try and screen grab it when it next pops up.

TweenageAngst · 29/09/2013 09:07

I have it on chrome.

releasethehounds · 29/09/2013 09:13

Me too - on Chrome and only happening when on Mumsnet.

Trills · 29/09/2013 09:36

It's now got to the point where it pops up, I click the "go away" button, and it pops up again, and keeps doing this too fast for me to even close that tab.

SavoyCabbage · 29/09/2013 09:37

I've got it on Firefox. I've had it for about a week and it happens every time I open a new thread.

buss · 29/09/2013 09:50

I've just had it on chrome

I clicked the go away tab...hope that won't make it worse

Trills · 29/09/2013 19:46

I

Trills · 29/09/2013 19:48

Good demonstration!

I just opened a page.

"You must type a message" - clicked OK

"You must type a message" 2nd time had the "stop this page from creating additional dialogs" checkbox, so I checked it and hit OK.

Started typing - page reloaded and posted what I had started typing, without me clicking any extra buttons.

this is the thread where it did it

And it did it here too - hence the post that was just "I" above.

Givemeyouranswerdo · 29/09/2013 20:04

I've had it happen intermittently on Firefox for a couple of weeks

Lilyloo · 29/09/2013 20:13

I am on the laptop and on chrome. It came up and was reopening to fast to close it. Froze all programs open on the screen. Managed to close it by fastest finger first.

Anniegetyourgun · 30/09/2013 21:07

Started happening to me today. I was loath to click "ok" at first in case I was accidentally agreeing to download something horrible, but had to in the end because I couldn't even close the browser (Chrome, on PC) until I'd got rid of the bloody message box.

TodaysAGoodDay · 30/09/2013 21:25

I had this yesterday, the pesky little bugger browser wouldn't close either, so I had to completely close the MN window, and start again. Haven't seen it since though.
I'm on the laptop with chrome.

Ive had this pop up too im on Internet explorer and i use an old laptop.

ColaConkie · 01/10/2013 08:24

I use safari on a MacBook pro and it is happening non stop now. I have had to quit out of safari 4 times now in the space of 10 mins

StormyBrid · 01/10/2013 09:02

I'm getting this on every thread I open - I scroll through active conversations right clicking and opening in a new tab, and when I go to that tab the message pops up. Happens with every thread.

StormyBrid · 01/10/2013 09:03

Oh, and I'm using chrome on a laptop.

Unexpected · 01/10/2013 09:06

Yes, I get this too - am on a Mac using Safari. It has been happening for a few days and is really irritating now. Initially, I could click away the message but yesterday/today it refuses to shut down and prevents me from doing anything on the browser so I have to log out and then back in again.

anythingforaquietnight · 01/10/2013 09:39

I've had this intermittently for a few days, a pop up, then i close it down and it goes away. This morning it would not go. I had to crash out of Safari in the end and restart. I'm on Mac.

Infact it is exactly as Unexpected describes so much better than I could

RowanMumsnet · 01/10/2013 10:36

OK - Tech is going to try to see if they can implement a fix for this later on today - so do please let us know if it keeps happening from this evening onwards.

BeScarefulWhatYouWitchFor · 01/10/2013 14:51

I get this in AIBU and chat. I'm on Firefox.

BeScarefulWhatYouWitchFor · 01/10/2013 14:52

Should say it only happens occasionally and only when I click to open a thread.

giraffesCantGoGuising · 01/10/2013 18:15

thanks

KateSMumsnet · 02/10/2013 13:37

Any news guys? Is it still happening?
