Please can we have a 'Republican' button?

Like the Guardian does?

I don't have anything against the Royal Family, and wish Kate and William much joy with their new family, but the relentless coverage is too much. For those of us who've lost babies, this week has been torment.

Please can we have the option of removing all Royal Baby coverage from your front page, and hiding the threads?

Good afternoon, dissidents!

We're afraid a Republican button is beyond our Tech resource at the moment, even if RowanMumsnet some of us would dearly love one.

And, to be fair, it's not unreasonable for the royal baby to be the subject of much discussion on a site which does discuss babies quite a lot.

But we do have a very handy hide button for every thread that irks you doesn't tickle your fancy.

And, hopefully, our second discussion of the day today will make you feel slightly better about stuff...

@MiaowTheCat

I know I'm not the only one who suffered birth trauma who is finding it all rather triggering too, it's hitting a lot of people write badly for various reasons

Yes, we do understand. And we're sorry if our previous post was annoyingly jokey.

We do feel for everyone who is finding these last few days difficult to cope with. Your post has certainly made us all stop and think, Miaow. Thanks

@Daisybell1

Miaow is right, its hitting a lot of people hard. And I appreciate that individual threads can be hidden however that doesn't help with everything plastered all over the front page, or the discussions of the day section (the second thread seems to be for republicans only). And I wasn't aware Mumsnet is just about babies!

I am particularly raw at the moment as I should have been due now, if I hadn't had my second miscarriage. There are other ladies currently suffering MCs on our hand holding thread, and I cannot begin to comprehend how they are feeling with the relentless coverage. Or those who are struggling to conceive.

If the technology is not capable of hiding everything, can you please give us an end date of when the relentless coverage will stop?

We're so sorry, Daisybell1. We can only begin to imagine how you must be feeling right now.

It's probably fair to say that there is a pregnancy/childbirth/small baby thread highlighted in our Discussions of the Day box almost every day.

So the royal baby thread in Discussions of the Day isn't that much of a departure from the norm - although we do take your point about the Home page. We're afraid we can't tell you an end date for us featuring the royal baby on the Home page but we can't imagine it going on for days and days, tbh. Perhaps, just for the meantime, you could access MN a different way - just arriving on Active Convos, for example, or bookmarking your support thread and using that as your entry point?

Your post has also reminded us that it's been a while since we signposted our Miscarriage advice pages on the Home page. Thank you for making us think about that. We'll make sure we find space to do that in the coming weeks.
