Am I the only one Grin at

Wimbledon - gripped by men's semis?

Over in discussions of the day?

Is it just my dirty mind?

Am being daft and enjoying it. Been a long school year and over today - thank fuck. Boys off doing I'd rather not know what and FidGirl is glued to MASH.

You ready for your hols yet?

I'm in that 'four days to hols and what is going to go wrong?' state of anxiety. A Small Boy sneezes and I flinch and fear he's getting ill.

I need to breathe...we still have 4 days in London before we leave for America so if he gets ill we'll be in country, at least!

I remember the "not an ear infection PLEASE" before flying home years.

Now mine are older I'm "ffs don't lose your ID again because there isn't time to replace it before we fly."

Grin I've done that.

I have to get replacement ID for FidBoy1 next week and I thought earlier "If he can't come at least I won't have to worry about him getting caught smoking or being pissed at the wedding".

I can understand that thought. When's the wedding?

3 weeks. He's lost his German ID but we'd normally have his Irish passport so it wouldn't have been a problem.

But the embassy here got the boys' photos the wrong way round when I renewed the passports recently. Grrrr. Bloody hours of documentation/witnessing of signatures etc. all for nothing.

OMG. Are they going to make you pay again? Or do they admit they messed up?

Yes, these days everything goes back to Dublin and the embassy were v apologetic. No, bloody hope not re the money. It's more the faff.

I had to get FidBoy2's forms done twice because he signed his surname as mine. Which he uses and even the school uses (means a lot to him) though legally he has exH's. So he wrote it again. Still had to do all the paperwork again, new photos, appointment with the head teacher to witness them, wait till exH came from the other side of the country to have his consent bit witnessed.

Then all the lovely new passports came and the boys' were wrong. All the bloody security crap and fussing about signatures (the embassy call the witness to confirm everyone was present...) and they put the wrong photos in Hmm

Luckily getting a new German ID for him will be easier or we'd have been screwed. I assume the embassy would push it through faster but again, it's the faff and worry. So I'll do it after the hols.

Good thing he can travel without it. A US citizen has to enter the country on a US Passport or they can revoke your passport.

Mad scramble to get Adam his first one when he was 6 months old. He needs a new one next year and I'm dreading it as we have to go to the US consulate in Belfast which is just a faff!

I was kicking myself for not getting new ones sorted straight away, it seemed to have gone on for months anyway and I cba, thinking "They have the ID cards."

FidBoy2's is kept at home but at 16 FidBoy1 can buy alcohol (though not spirits) and goes to parties where he needs ID so it was in his wallet.

I have looked online loads of times this week for confirmation that the ID card is OK and will call the British embassy on Mon just to make sure as well.

Am fed up of all the faff - it never bloody ends. Most annoying about his wallet is that it fell out of his pocket at his graduation ceremony and we know that several students in the year below him had it. I reckon someone thought it was funny to keep it and then the next day was too embarrassed or stupid to hand it in. Angry

So new ID, health insurance, travel card, all with new photos and yards of fecking paperwork.

Man, what a nightmare! Times like that you want them to be my son's age again so you can hold onto all that stuff for them.

I thought the same lately. It's been a shitty school year for us all - for me as a parent and as an employee at the school.

i just had the end of term (yesterday) in my head as the time I could put it all behind us and have a break.

But - they're only cards and no one got hurt. I'm going to do a list with FidGirl today of fun things we want to do in the holidays. She prints out lists of films to watch with clues for me to guess which one. And she wants to learn to bake. Shame I can't teach her Grin Delia or Nigella will have to help.
