Changes overnight

Hi, we've made a few changes overnight. The main difference you'll probably notice is that the border around your name at the top of the posts has changed colour slightly.

Older messages may be "invisible" for the next couple of hourse, but they should gradually come back.

Regards,
Tech

Is that why all the posts are in large letters. Or is that just mine.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 01/06/2006 07:12

I am sure it has been done for a good reason, but unless there is copious use of the space bar it looks very very squashed.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 01/06/2006 07:13

If on the other hand you use the space bar.

It is easier to read.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 01/06/2006 07:15

So in essence if you get a very loooooooooooooooooooooooong post from a member that does not make use of spacing, it is going to look like a sight test.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 01/06/2006 07:15

The exclamation mark is bigger as well.

suzywong · 01/06/2006 07:19

I see no difference at all
is this because I am on a Mac?

what did it used to look l ike, are you all messing with my head?

HarpsichordCarrier · 01/06/2006 07:23

maybe it's a mac thing because Pruni can't see it either and she has a mac too

tech · 01/06/2006 08:44

Posted on the wrong thread. oops - anyway...

Changes in the night, la da di dee dee, changes in the night. have that going round my head. should be strangers but whatever. am i bovvered.

Hello. Feeling slightly hysterical due to lack of sleep. Now, mes cheries, in turn:

Californifrau, not so much offensive as lacking a certain modernity. It had to go.

Heavenis, you should be able to change the text size to suit you by doing View, Text Size in your browser. It wouldn't have changed for people on the standard setting (medium) I don't think. maybe yours in on something else.

LGJ, I'm intrigued by your space bar squashing. Could you possibly tell me what browser your are using. (If you are on Internet Explorer, click Help, About internet explorer and there should be a version number shown.)

Suzywong, if you're on a new-ish mac, you shouldn't see any difference really.

For the technos amongst you, all we've done is change the page template to use a style sheet instead of lots of html codes to create the page layout. This makes it easier to maintain the pages, and also speeds up downloads. It does mean however that we are slightly more at the mercy of browser quirlks, so we'd be interested to hear if anyone sees anything odd.

Love,
tech xx

the new border makes it look like the archived threads
imho

tech · 01/06/2006 09:08

You is not supposed to be able to see the difference innit. Seamless I believe is the word. Or something.

Please can someone with the squashed up problem tell me what browser they are using (help, about on the menu usually). Thanks.

MrsBadgerAvecUneVoiture · 01/06/2006 09:28

style sheets are so worth having I'll forgive the changes!

for what it's worth under MacOs 10.2.8, Safari 1.0.3 (v85.8.1) looks exactly as it did (Verdana 13pt with what appears to be metrical kerning), but IE 5.2.2 (5010.1) has changed very slightly (Verdana 12pt with a slightly tighter kerning).

LotosEater · 01/06/2006 09:30

Im using Firefox on my Mac
