It doesn't display the £ symbol. Instead I get &pounds78. It doesn't make for a pleasant reading experience.

Furthermore, the emoticon, which in its original form is a thing of beauty, just looks a bit sad. The emoticon just looks a bit shocked, the is just a bit tired, the looks like a tyre, and is no longer wine but a frigging cocktail glass.

You can't click through to the topic when reading a thread, the active convos go on forever and I hate the advert at the bottom making the amount of reading space available even tinier.

Yup, the active post list just scrolls round and round over the first 10 or so posts - very irritating... The ad bar at the bottom just takes up space as well...

I know it was a free app but....

And that effing Just Giving bar. And the way it doesn't highlight OPs posts throughout a thread. And you can't view anyone's profile, or hide thread or topics.

I'd even pay a quid for a better version, that's how crap I think it is.

Tis rubbish. I am on a Samsung Galaxy Y, running on Android, which is universally acknowledged to be the WORST smartphone on the market. However I found the MN app unusable & I uninstalled it in less than a day. It was impossible to see the text box if I wanted to reply to a thread, so if I made a single mistake I had to re-write the entire post. It also didn't have a 'preview' option.
It randomly flipped conversations.
It added adverts to my already tiny screen.
OTOH the mobile site is actually moderately usable - most are horrendous on my phone.

I know I have a cheap crap phone (really skint as just off Mat leave) but I'm sure I'm not the only one who has this phone & uses MN.

Agreed. Faces are all wrong, and for no good reason since they used to be exactly the same as on the website. The pound sign thing gets on my teat, as does the mess it makes if anyone posts something requiring accents. It took me a while the other day to read the word 'pate' because it came out as p&?6at,$e or something.

Could there be a "back" button, please?It is really easy to touch one of the buttons at the bottom by mistake and thereby lose the thread one was reading.

if we need a quota to get them to improve it then here is my name to add to the list. the sponsored threads in active drive me potty. and having to scroll to the top every time you want to remind yourself who the OP is.

Amen, it's truly crap. The repeating active convos list makes me stabby, I'm forever getting (null) posts when I try to open a thread, accents, symbols and smilies are all screwed, after the adverts and stickies i have about 0.0001cm of space left to read posts, it's driving me insane. Please sort it, MNHQ!

It's awful. You can't read the full thread title if it's even slightly long. Active convos just repeat. Threads flip for no apparent reason. Emoticons look weird and half the screen is taken up by ads. PLEASE can we have a decent app?

I don't think Mumsnet Towers care!!! I've asked them to sort the pound sign ages ago- they did nothing. And the new(ish) emocios are crap in comparison to the old ones.

I've also reported it, they are working on it apparently. Why do all the emoticons look like they have been tangoed? Also hide, save highlight op, mn etc need. Just the basic tbh, plus the pound £ sign.

I have to say I have an iPhone 5 and the app works just fine. I can customise it, highlight the ops post and mine and the £ works just fine. There aren't any adverts in the way, I can click on the topic from the thread and it always shows the whole conversation. And it only flips if I set it to.

I have literally just deleted the app.

I tried to get on with it - I was getting used to it's highly annoying foibles but it just threw a techy wobbler and I cba. I know it is free, but if it has advertising then it would be nice for it to be...well, as good as MN.

I'm only here as I came to ask how to sort it out. Realised after reading this we were truely broken. So I LTB.

I can't even get my android to connect with men any more. Been quite happy accessing for weeks ( apart from no bookmarks, posts not highlighted, can't manage threads I'm watching, can't click on profiles etc) but now it doesn't want to know.

Tried re-installing but no use...

Ilovemydog are you using the app or the mobile site? Because I can't do any of those things on my iPhone 5 app!

My newest issue is that some threads crash the app every time I click on them. And this morning I can't get in at all, I've just got the MN logo

Plus I miss £ signs, and the proper :(

We complained months ago about all this, what's going on?
