Mumsnet Talk: Quote of the Week - Suggestions Wanted

AbbyMumsnet · 18/05/2006 14:25

Hi all,
We thought it would be fun to include a "Quote of the Week" from Mumsnet Talk in our weekly newsletter, as a sort of celebration of all that is LOL funny - if not slightly surreal - and unique about Mumsnet. Please post your suggestions here. (And do try and keep 'em clean Grin)

I suggest one from Spidermama's story on the 'my husband was accused of being a bully in B&Q' thread

'Yes.. I'm with the mother now .... we've established it seems to be a macaroon incident. Over ...'

bundle · 18/05/2006 14:54

in answer to how many/where do you keep your laundry basket:

Surfermum's blinder:

Ours is in the futility room.

megglevache · 18/05/2006 14:54

Oh the only two I were going to suggest were both rude Blush

Don't get the biscuit reference????

katierocket · 18/05/2006 15:12

yes yes, the macaroom incident was a corker

FrayedKnot · 18/05/2006 15:19

I was thinking about suggesting this a few weeks ago but wasn;t sure how it would work.

Are you going to start a new thread each week?

Agree this week so far teh Macaroon incident gets my vote too.

Marina · 18/05/2006 15:20

Make it the Macaroons!

AbbyMumsnet · 18/05/2006 15:39

Don't think we'll start a new thread each week - we'll just pick from the past week's suggestions. Newsletter gets put together on a Wednesday, if that's any help. If you're feeling particularly industrious you could always include a link to the original thread, along with your actual suggestion...

I like Beety's speculations about anal sex, on the Line of Beauty thread and elsewhere, but fully realise that this might overstep your sense of decency.

harpsichordcarrier · 18/05/2006 16:50

another vote for the macaroon incident

BeetrootOldDeer · 18/05/2006 16:54

that would make my day MI

Twiglett · 18/05/2006 16:56

MotherInferior opening a thread about poor grammar usage in the RL "when there gone, there gone"

" It's like having fingernails run down the blackboard of my mind."

ggglimpopo · 18/05/2006 16:57

I'm off to check up on the anal sex reference in "Line of Beauty" Thread.

I like the macaroon incident line.

ComeOVeneer · 18/05/2006 17:00

Another vote for the macaroons here

arfy · 18/05/2006 17:50

the macaroons are on \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=67&threadid=173383&stamp=060518144954#3627662\this} thread

and I like the quote I quoted. it's from Spidermama on Monday, 15 May, 2006 2:56:11 PM

couldn't be bothered with the specifics earlier

You need the entire story for the macaroon incident, tough, don't you. It is the funniest thing i have read this week - but for a one-liner my vote would go to the 'futility room'

zippitippitoes · 18/05/2006 18:01

yes the macaroon is funny..but only as the whole story unfortunately

willow2 · 18/05/2006 18:02

Lord, how the xxxx did I miss the macaroon incident. Have just spat tea out on my swanky new computer. DH will not be best pleased.

This thread is going to have to be on my "watch list" - nevermind that it is now impossible to read every single thread. This will be like the encyclopedia of great threads you have missed (do you know, she said, sounding like a sad old sap, I remember coming back from holiday one time and going through two weeks of Talk in an afternoon while DS slept. If I tried to do that now it would take a month and he'd be on the phone to Childline, complaining he hadn't been fed and his mother was locked in the spare room.)

ssd · 18/05/2006 18:10

oh I wish I had the time to plough through the macaroon thread, please please can someone give me the low down??

willow2 · 18/05/2006 18:14

Just read Spidermama's bit about her DH - priceless.

milge · 18/05/2006 18:24

What about OO's comment re Paul McCartney's marriage breakdown \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1372&threadid=174159&stamp=060518163428\here}. i guess mn has enough litigation issues, though. Still, it made me PMSL.
Sroll down, 1st post in response to OP
