I realise you have limited space, but please??????????????????????

We do seem to be taking over the rest of the nboard ATM, and I think it is begining to piss off the non campers Grin

Actually I meant on general postings.... stillt raining on the camping ones.

WelshBoris · 01/05/2006 13:49

So did I miss an awards ceremony or not?

Or is it a self appointed title?

Lucycat · 01/05/2006 13:50

Just part of my witterings - why do you think we should have nominations for camping threads above and beyond the call of duty?

tamum · 01/05/2006 14:01

I wouldn't worry about it from other people's POVs, mb. The threads are always clearly about camping, so it's easy to avoid. Much worse when there are threads that don't give any clue in the title- Arts and Crafts threads are nearly always about cards and stuff, but often don't say so, so I feel obliged to look in case they're about something I am interested in!

SPRAY@hotel

Peachyclair · 01/05/2006 14:12

self appointed- just seem to be on a lot of minority threads: crafts, camping, Sn.

I was being tongue in cheek you now.... didn't mean or expect to offend anyone.

WelshBoris · 01/05/2006 14:13

Who is offended?

Peachyclair · 01/05/2006 14:16

I thought you were! Blush sorry- always being doubly careful, you know what MN can be like!!!! Grin

JustineMumsnet · 01/05/2006 22:28

Hello,
Would require a bit of a reorganisation of travel I guess. We'll have a think about it and get back.
Cheers,
MNHQ

HenniPenni · 03/05/2006 13:37

Also another newby to the happy camping brigade, please can we have our own thread!!

PandaG · 03/05/2006 13:55

Just another voice saying yes please, although I imagine camping thread would be busy spring and summer, and more quiet at other times of the year.

Lucycat · 03/05/2006 13:57

oh I don't know, there's nothing like a freezing cold day to make you want to wish for the warmth of summer, smell of early morning dew outside the tent, wine under the stars....and queueing up to do the washing up Grin

We can also use the winter months to plan what to buy, not that we need anything else, nor can we fit anything else in the car but hey ho!

fennel · 03/05/2006 14:05

well, lucycat, perhaps it's time to have a discussion on what sort of car to have to fit in all the camping stuff.

PandaG · 03/05/2006 14:18

Having only camped as a family for the first time this weekend we are already having the 'we are going to have to hire another car if we buy any more stuff, and we really need an x,y,z to improve the camping experience' conversations. We've got a Toyota Prius withh roofbox - very economical and environmentally friendly, and not to be replaced for another 3 years. Think we will have to hire a second car if we get much more kit, and that could be expensive on a regular basis - if we buy more kit we need to camp regularly to make it worth it !

Lucycat · 03/05/2006 14:25

We've got a Vauxhall Zafira and roofbox, with the dd's seats pushed forward, the fridge/coolbox under dd2's feet and every square cm expertly packed by my dh!

Theory is, the bigger car you have the more stuff you take with you, it's amazing how dh and i camped around Europe for a month with everything in 2 rucksacks, now it's a military operation! Grin

fennel · 03/05/2006 14:34

we have a Renault Espace with windsurfers on top and bikes hanging off the back. It's excellent for camping, a less ideal car for being stylish about town. we did have a VW camper van til last year but with 3 small fennel offspring it was too much like travelling in a noisy constantly moving and shrieking tin of sardines.

another thread topic, would you take your children backpacking (rucksacks, tents etc)? if so what age? or just never? would really like to do this with the dds but can't imagine it for at least another decade.

leggymamba · 03/05/2006 14:43

As another newbie camping thread person - where do I need to look for the other threads at the moment?

Lucycat · 03/05/2006 14:50

Try some of \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=3&threadid=168949&stamp=060503140647\these} or \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=3&threadid=8402\this one} or \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1012&threadid=166686&stamp=060502200137\possibly this one?}or even \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1012&threadid=168744&stamp=060501222435\this one?}

That should keep you occupied for about the next fortnight, or at least until I get back from getting dd1 from school Grin
Can you see why the non campers get bored by our witterings?! Grin Grin

leggymamba · 03/05/2006 15:09

Thanks that will keep me busy for a bit

Lucycat · 04/05/2006 18:14

HenniPenni · 09/05/2006 11:39

JustineMumsnet · 09/05/2006 15:52
