Getting an email when you report a thread

For the last week or two I have suddenly noticed I haven't been getting an email after reporting a thread

have you changed your policy, HQ ?

@FrankWippery

Mine certainly is the same email. Btw on thinking about this, I'm pretty sure the only ones I did get were mass ones.

P'raps I'll report myself for being an arse and see what happens.

Is that a challenge?

HelenMumsnet · 21/01/2013 23:06

@AnyFucker

I promise to do a penance. I will never say "cunt" on MN again.

< wibble >

I have written that down, AnyF, and will hold you to it. Three 'cunts' and you're out, ok?

@ChaosTrulyReigns

ahem...

Sorry Chaos. Were you aheming in our direction?

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 21/01/2013 23:11

As long as you pay your bet in used fivers, all are welcome Grin

ChaosTrulyReigns · 21/01/2013 23:14

Kinda. ..

Sometimes when I have an email, there's a bit of smalltalk/rhetorical question in there.

Are we meant to reply to these, as they may not get back to the asker, iyswim, and be all confusing fir HQ who need clear heads for efficient gin procurement.

I'm bewildered, tbh.

AnyFucker · 21/01/2013 23:17

hmm, yes

is it bad form to strike up a bit of email banter with an HQ'er ?

I am sometimes a bit tempted, but it might look a bit needy and sucky-uppy

OP posts:
ChaosTrulyReigns · 21/01/2013 23:30

Exactly why I'm losing sleep, AF.

What's the bliffing protocol?

AnyFucker · 21/01/2013 23:33

I don't know. It's bothered me somewhat on occasion. I don't want to make a social gaffe.

You're welcome to reply if you'd like to. We do quite like a bit of banter. And ti's not confusing at all, actually - our system quite good at alerting the right people. But it's not compulsory, obvs!

AnyFucker · 21/01/2013 23:37

< phew > that is reassuring

I have reset my spam filter now. Mumsnet is no longer consigned to the trash bin.

Ha ha at social gaffe. You make us sound like minor aristocracy or summat

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 21/01/2013 23:38

I got what I thought was a bit of an odd one today (yesterday?) I reported a post by a company who I thought were being a bit cheeky advertising on MN and not paying for it (they started a thread at 1am) but as they are a 'good' company I wasn't sure if MN would mind them doing it or not, so I flagged it for them to have a look at. I got a reply back saying it had been moved? Not deleted, but moved. I was a bit puzzled Confused

But generally, I like getting MN emails - so your effort isn't wasted Grin

LRDtheFeministDragon · 21/01/2013 23:41

I've never had replies consistently. They reply to about 40%. It is slightly irritating, when there's something I report that I actually care about ( as opposed to having a dim and useless sense it's a bit off). But then, I figure they're familiar with my dim and useless senses, so probably have better things to do.

Yes, that is odd, Chipping.

But glad you like our mails (in general): they're a cracking team, the lot who write them and they work damn hard.

AnyFucker · 21/01/2013 23:42

A social gaffe like calling the Queen "your majesty" instead of "ma'am^

summat like that

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 21/01/2013 23:43

I always read 'em

OP posts:
LRDtheFeministDragon · 21/01/2013 23:51

Btw, I always feel really rude not replying to emails. But I do not wish to fall foul of this social gaffe AF (her ladyship) mentions.

Would it be ok if I put on my white gloves and pearls to reply to you? And we could develop a shorthand of meaningful eyebrow movements like the lady in Downton Abbey, to be transliterated into HTML code?

BackforGood · 22/01/2013 00:15

I have to say I didn't get one last time I reported something (was only reporting some advertiser posing as a poster - nothing very exciting). I'm not bothered, but if you want to find out if people are receiving them or not....
