'ParentPort' folder - still not used 'right'

Don't know why this bugs me so much - but I've raised it a couple of times, because I can see that this folder (in 'Being a Parent') is not being helpful to users. Posters new to mumsnet (AFAI can tell) post queries there that would get far more help if they were posted in the appropriate places. ParentPort is not for parenting queries or health queries or anything except what the blurb at the top says (which people apparently don't read!!). It means that people are asking questions and missing out on the great support MN can offer.

I suggest MNHQ move the folder, or move the posts, and definitely write a clearer blurb :)

Thanks!

@CuriosityKilledTheCrap

Here's the blurb:

This discussion topic is in partnership with ParentPort, a website run by the UK's media regulators. They set and enforce standards across the media to protect children from inappropriate material. If you've seen or heard something you felt was unsuitable for children ? maybe a programme on TV or online, a film, an advert, a video game or something in a magazine ? feel free to start a thread here to discuss it with other parents, and you can also make a complaint to the regulators via ParentPort.

Hello, yes, we're aware that lots of folks do post the wrong kind of thing in the ParentPort topic by mistake - despite our note at the top.

We will try to move threads across to a more appropriate topic when we can.

Thanks for flagging this.

@WhispersOfWickedness

Helen - the blurb doesn't appear on the app. Is there any way for it to be added as this might be part of the problem?

Ah- OK. Didn't realise that - thanks for letting us know.

Which App: android or iPhone?

@tiktok

Ooh, it's all been cleared up now! All the non-ParentPort topics have been mysteriously moved elsewhere :) Someone's been along with a big cyber-hoover and done a spot of cleaning.

Thanks, MN!

No probs (was the day shift, I had nothing to do with it Grin)
