mn hq, I would like to know why my thread was deleted

thread started last week about double standards between how men and women were treated on mn.

Yes there were some strong opinions voiced on it but afaik it ran to its conclusion and someone even started a new one.

So why was it deleted?

Just seems that a contrary POV (even though many, many people on mn agreed with it) is not welcomed? not happy tbh - what happened to freedom of speech?

IMO, the thread was deleted for numerous personal attacks and repeated goading posts

I am happy to say I reported many of them

I was on that thread at one point, and "robustly debating" like everyone else

I then had to leave the thread to go to bed and then work for 8 hours where I am unable to post

During that time, at least half a dozen posters were egging each other on to new heights of goading and taunting such as "where are all the straight talkers now...too scared to post/been proved wrong have you so fucked off with your tail between your legs/lost the argument have you so you daren't come back" and lots more along the same vein

in other words, repeated calls to instigate yet more bunfighting and some really shockingly awful personal insults to posters who were clearly a) otherwise engaged or b) had already left the the thread to do something more useful

so, I am glad it was deleted, and the Goaders on there should really be checking themselves in future, or finding themselves with a well-deserved ban

mintyy, I am sure you could hazard a few accurate guesses

there were also many accusations of sockpuppetting by the Goaders against "the main protagonists" as they called them, which I reported as troll hunting

which is kinda odd because I recognised many of those Goaders as namechangers who do it primarily to shit stir and wind others up

HQ agreed again as those posts were zapped before the thread disappeared

We get that you are different though, we've had it shoved down our necks often enough

and strangely, you seem to recognise them the same way as everyone else, since you inevitably rock up to whine about how someone in Feminism said you might have been drunk once in 1997

I would also add that many people have a better memory than me, because despite several namechanges of their own (and only seasonal ones of mine) they drag old resentments up time and time again (not talking about you this time, sm)

I reckon the thread got deleted because some of the views expressed were bananas.
