TBH I happen to know that it is a bit of a Techy nightmare and it can take the tech team some time to retrieve a name.
It is not as simple a clicking a switch. That is why we do not do it readily as it can be hours of work for one name.

Actually, instead of flouncing, don't leave. Seriously though if for some v strange reason you want to flounce, ask MNHQ to ban you for a bit. Means you don't lose your name. HTH
