Zombie thinks it must have been serious this time.

I have no idea, but I live a stones throw from where she was driving past, and we had no internet in this time period. Others said phones were working for making calls, but not social media and sms. I could not log onto facebook from my phone....

BIWItheBold · 15/05/2012 17:47

Not so, Quint. I couldn't get on to MN but I was happily using FB and Twitter. I say happily, actually I was doing it begrudgingly BECAUSE I REALLY WANTED TO BE ON MUMSNET, TECH!

Get0rfMoiLand · 15/05/2012 17:48

Really laughing at daddyman's pictures of MNHQ (dressed up like the Mitfords) with their new computer parts. Grin

I wish computers were called bombes still. It sounds better. I am just going to turn the bombe on to check my emails.

Get0rfMoiLand · 15/05/2012 17:50

No, the queen didn't break the internet, I unhappily read the papers and Empire online this morning waiting for Tech to take his fernet branca and get some work done.

FuckingThorDaddyman · 15/05/2012 17:50

Talc it's from the ENIAC archives. I've studied a bit of computer history and love the old pics!

Some companies still take cheesy photos

QuintessentialShadows · 15/05/2012 17:50

Biwi, maybe social media was only blocked in Richmond. ?? To prevent people from uploading photos of her majesty to facebook and tweet them?

Get0rfMoiLand · 15/05/2012 17:51

I had to do a presentation a few months back proudly announcing some sterling work my colleague had done on a multi million pound high speed compuer project. I asked them to send me some pictures. All I got were great big grey boxes with IBM all over them, and wildly grinning men in unspeakable jumpers stood near them.

BIWItheBold · 15/05/2012 17:52

Well she was over here ---> in Mitcham this afternoon, and all was well! Maybe it's just you, Quint. Maybe They don't trust you!

FuckingThorDaddyman · 15/05/2012 17:53

what? No more gin? Better get t'internets working again!

HelenMumsnet · 15/05/2012 17:56

And I have nicer shoes mostly

FuckingThorDaddyman · 15/05/2012 17:57

Helen was the problem that you were reading heat magazine instead of paying attention to what you were doing?

QuintessentialShadows · 15/05/2012 17:59

"Well she was over here ---> in Mitcham this afternoon, and all was well! Maybe it's just you, Quint. Maybe They don't trust you!"

That must be it.

The Queen thought "That Quint is going to be there, and as there is just a couple of "ee"s, and "i" and a "t", between us, and she posted on that mumsnet site the plebs like so much only last week about how she wants to be a queen, we must block the internet in entire Richmond." That must be it. Grin

Tee2072 · 15/05/2012 18:00

Love the pictures.

Tech, if your alibi is that you were down the pub? It won't wash.

HelenMumsnet · 15/05/2012 18:02

@FuckingThorDaddyman

Helen was the problem that you were reading heat magazine instead of paying attention to what you were doing?

No, that's me consulting Tech's Auld Almanack of Helpful Turning On and Off Again Thingies To Be Consulted When All Else Fails - obvs

FuckingThorDaddyman · 15/05/2012 18:02

tech did you have a phonecall from "microsoft" telling you that you had a virus? Grin

Get0rfMoiLand · 15/05/2012 18:03

What happens then when the servers go down.

Is it like the start of 4 weddings and funeral when Hugh Grant and Marmalade Atkins go 'FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK' and run about all over the place?

FuckingThorDaddyman · 15/05/2012 18:04

Helen and there was me thinking it was torso of the week...

EatsBrainsAndLeaves · 15/05/2012 18:07

Is it really Tech?

Is it true as Olivia claims that your shed is painted in F&B or do they keep you locked up in a dingy dungeon?

jazzchickens · 15/05/2012 18:08

Grin @ Queen being blamed for internet breakage.

Now, now MNHQ - what were you really up to? It doesn't take 3 hours to switch it on and off again.

FuckingThorDaddyman · 15/05/2012 18:10

Tech

QuintessentialShadows · 15/05/2012 18:10

They came to Richmond (or Mitcham) to see the Queen, and did not realize that they had turned off all the lights before leaving the office....

IamtheZombie · 15/05/2012 18:14

Tech, darling, MN came back on-line at approximately a quarter to nine BST this morning.

Zombie had a quick peek around several of the forums and the last posts before that were at approximately a quarter to six BST this morning.

Zombie is clever. She can take six from nine and calculate that MN was down the pub offline for 3 hours.

I would have to concur with Zombie and not just because I luffs her but because I woke up at 530 and was on mobile site when it went tits up (technical term, you understand) about 15 minutes later.
