Why do threads get re-dated?

I keep thinking, "But surely I've seen this before," and checking OP date. And now here's one I really and truly defuntly no arguing defuntly remember.

Or is it me? Shock

We don't re-date anything.

We sometimes move threads but we don't re-date owt.
