If the word is Mumsnet, and then surely the place should be MHQ and the proles should actually be Mers or Metters?

I know it doesn't flow as well, but, hey, accuracy is improtant isn't it?

Hmm, will try that.
Could be fun, especially if it requires a mere yes or no answer.
If I get lynched because the OP has revealed a tragic backstory then I shall merely blame you or claim that RebeccaMumsnet has hacked my account and posting as me. Actually, that could work! Grin

Trills · 24/02/2012 13:20

:o

Best to keep it to "lighthearted" sections... it's not a game to play in the Pregnancy section.

TheRhubarb · 24/02/2012 13:21

Really? Oh shit! Blush

Trills · 24/02/2012 13:22

Haha

OliviaMumsnet · 24/02/2012 19:28

hi there
Shall we move this thread to Pedants' Corner?
Thanks
M Towers

ChaosTrulyReigns · 24/02/2012 20:35

Noep.

No-one is talking about pedanticism, just picking on me.

Tell them off, mom.

OP posts:
Trills · 24/02/2012 20:53

Tell who off?

debka · 24/02/2012 21:05

Actually chaos, if you look at the big logo, it's mumsnet not Mumsnet, so should we be mers?

ChaosTrulyReigns · 24/02/2012 21:34

I did ponder that debka, but when MNHQ themselves write they use one capital. So, ner.

Wink

Em, Trills, howabout Thumby, Rhubs, LilacWalts, and now debka?

OP posts:
Trills · 24/02/2012 21:35

But they write MNHQ and MN Towers as well

ChaosTrulyReigns · 24/02/2012 21:38

But those are diminutives.

Working from the big long word, there's only one word, one capital.

So therefore...

OP posts:
ChaosTrulyReigns · 24/02/2012 21:39

And they're wring, imho.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 24/02/2012 21:40

Oh fruff.

wrong.

Hello losing battle, it's nice to see you again.

Honeydragon · 24/02/2012 21:45

If it's Mumsnet you can't call Rebecca Mom - it must be Mum

Tee2072 · 24/02/2012 21:45

I'm very tired and very drunk. So all I'll say is:

Neener Neener re: Americans and the serial, comma, okay?

And it should be People of Mumsnet. ::gavel::

cheesesarnie · 24/02/2012 21:51

am easily confused tonight (unusual)
so who are we?mners or mers-quite like to be a mer
where are we?

Valpollicella · 24/02/2012 22:00

But it's Mums Net innit Chaos?

You can't have finger space in urls

ChaosTrulyReigns · 24/02/2012 22:03

Jux · 24/02/2012 22:07

I like Oxford commas.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 24/02/2012 22:07

finger space Valp?

Have you been helping young DC with their writing?

OP posts:
Iggly · 24/02/2012 22:08

It's mums net surely. Which over time has morphed into one word and I expect to see it in the next OED.

MNHQ retained their use of the two word format and because it's an acronym, they capitalise so it becomes Mums Net.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 24/02/2012 22:08

Were my commas right Jux? were they? were they?

OP posts:
Lexilicious · 24/02/2012 22:11

excuse me but headquarters is a single word too so MNHQ should actually be MH by extension.

Trills · 24/02/2012 22:12

I like Oxford commas too

crazynanna · 24/02/2012 22:14

Just noticed mumsnet is a small m
