Just wondering.

OP posts:
semtexinmypocket · 18/02/2012 22:30

Who said I haven't been here long Val? Confused Not me.

wannaBe · 18/02/2012 22:30

where is this sockpuppet? is it on the same thread I'm on?

StealthPolarBear · 18/02/2012 22:31

wannabe it could be YOU. That's the thing about the sockpuppets, they're really sneaky.

crazynanna · 18/02/2012 22:32

Well I'm either pissed or fick...but what the jeff's going on? Is it a bunfight? Is it an off? Shall I hold someone's coatwanker?

wannaBe · 18/02/2012 22:33

well it could, but only I would know that. Wink and tbh I can't even be arsed to namechange for sensitive threads so I certainly couldn't be bothered to do so for the purposes of sockpuppetry...

MandyT68 · 18/02/2012 22:34

Mumsnet new person alert. What's a sockpuppet? Please forgive ignorance.

Valpollicella · 18/02/2012 22:39

Sorry Semtex, mistaken identidy

Apologies.

But lets lay off laying into individual posters, yeah?

lurkingaround · 18/02/2012 22:39

Yes, what is a sockpuppet?

ChaosTrulyReigns · 18/02/2012 22:40

sockpuppet - when someone name changes and comes on to agree with themselves

Honeydragon · 18/02/2012 22:41

Grin if a thread is entirely consisted of sock puppets surely that would be ok?

Or you could report yourself?

wannaBe · 18/02/2012 22:41

a sockpuppet is someone who namechanges on their own thread.. so for instance:

Someone posts a thread saying "I gave birth to a baby last night and it had two heads and weighed 22 lb and I was up climbing a mountain this morning," and the rest of mumsnet all respond in a Hmm Biscuit Confused manner, until another poster (the op under a namechange) comes on and says "How dare you question the validity of my friend's post, I am her rl friend and I guarantee she is genuine and you are all bitches and you all deserve to burn in hell..." Grin

StealthInShades · 18/02/2012 22:43

No it's not Stealth you're an absolute idiot and deserve to have your broadband cut

HelenMumsnet · 18/02/2012 22:44

In answer to the question in the OP, yes, it is.

No idea what the rest of the thread is about.

Perhaps someone could PM me?

MandyT68 · 18/02/2012 22:44

Just looked it up. Thanks

ShadeyStealth · 18/02/2012 22:45

Don't be so nasty. Stealth is lovely and she's definitely genuine. She posted me some cream for a horrible boil I had on my bottom. She had one too, in exactly the same place, you see.

WhatWillBe · 18/02/2012 22:45

WTAF happened there?

I have spent 3 minutes reading from top to bottom and have been Shock Hmm

wannaBe · 18/02/2012 22:45

oh, I once saw a thread of which omtrent the first twenty posts consisted of sockpuppets.

let me see if I can find it. iirc the poster lost their ability to namechange as a result and was subsequently banned, but that's a whole other story...

ShadeyStealth · 18/02/2012 22:45

and me...I mean her. Don't forget the new rules people.

QED · 18/02/2012 22:46

Was just looking up sockpuppets and discovered there are also meatpuppets.
