So you numpties -if you go on one thread and get het up and then run back your usual 'safe' space to rant about it, you should understand that the people you are bitching about may read it.

It surprises me that this hasn't caused more problems - surely it will do soon.

Exactly

Northernlurker · 14/02/2012 23:12

You've noticed it too then?

OP posts:
usualsuspect · 14/02/2012 23:14

I'm not sure which one you mean , but I have noticed it yes

Northernlurker · 14/02/2012 23:16

This was prompted by recent sight of two actually - and there was another one a while back. I thought that was a rather dim exception but then latterly it seems to be spreading Hmm I bet yours is yet another one.

OP posts:
usualsuspect · 14/02/2012 23:17

Mine was about me Grin

Northernlurker · 14/02/2012 23:46

That's funny - the first one I saw was about me! And it was wrong - featured some misremembering of previous threads. I almost rose above it.

YANBU

ValarMorghulis · 14/02/2012 23:48

It is a bit stupid to bitch about someone on a public forum that the poster you are bitching about is using.

now, where is this bitching happening?

mycatsaysach · 14/02/2012 23:50

google your user name and its all there too..........scary

wannaBe · 14/02/2012 23:59

well, anyone who considers mn a safe space is a bit delusional

Northernlurker · 15/02/2012 00:09

Well yes indeed Wannabe.
I love the 'theme' threads that go on and I think it's a vital source of support but some people are just not thinking before they post and I really hope that they see this thread and think on.
If you must bitch then use PMs - surely that's what it's there for?

OP posts:
BoysAreLikeDogs · 15/02/2012 00:12

I haven't seen any bitching recently but yes, have seen it in the past

(in addition, the OTBT threads are open for all to see, too, the topic is not THAT hard to drill down to. If you want to be totally secret squirrel don't commit anything to the internettie)

BrightnessFalls · 15/02/2012 00:14

I must go around with me head in the clouds. I've never noticed it. It's common sense though that the whole world can see this place. I keep meaning to get into the habit of changing my name more often.

Northernlurker · 15/02/2012 00:26

Brightness - you need to do a bit of 'lurking' and then all the bits fit together Grin

OP posts:
mumblechum1 · 15/02/2012 00:31

Brightness, I do like your name. Is it from the Jay McEnerny books?

BrightnessFalls · 15/02/2012 00:59

It is but it was the first book that caught my eye on the shelf. I think it's from the 90's?

mumblechum1 · 15/02/2012 01:04

yes. Must re read it sometime.

wannaBe · 15/02/2012 01:13

I'm afraid that even when the facebook like button came into being, I was a bit Hmm at all the posters saying how mn was their private space and how now it was going to be invaded by their potential friends and family...

Maryz, no one would be nasty about you. You're a goody.

To be honest I don't think its that the people bitching don't realise, I think its just that they are much "braver" from the safety of it being the internet and not having to actually say it to someones face, which they just don't have the balls for..either that or they're just too DOH! to realise that people can switch threads and read everything they're writing, as you said..:)

LadyWellian · 15/02/2012 11:44

I've googled my username and confirmed my suspicion that no-one would bother bitching about me.

I particularly liked the result that came up including the highlighted text 'you've taught the good lady well, ian Grin

YuleingFanjo · 15/02/2012 11:50

nope - can't see what you are talking about but I agree it's crap.

Quenelle · 15/02/2012 12:15

I just googled myself and found that I was quoted in the Talk Roundup last May.
