I reported about six adverts that had been posted as events oon Richmond local a few days ago. There still there. Please can they be gone/moved to the appropriate section?

Thanks DuchessofCornwall, we will take a look (posting from Hampton Court Palace, Your Royal Highness?!) Grin

KatieMiddleton · 29/01/2012 01:40

Richmond Palace. Or near there. Hampton Court Palace is out of Richmond patch. No wonder you commoners have such problems keeping local events nice and tidy... Wink

If you give me access to the big red button I'll zap/move them myself if you like?

Sorry Ma'am only MNHQ royalty get that privilege responsibility. Noblesse Oblige and all that. Grin
KatieMiddleton · 01/02/2012 03:36

They are still there! There is a regular childen's flamenco class and an adults' dress making course amongst other non-events and blatent ads.

I'm not saying that if I had the power to zap them I'd have been quicker... well actually I am. What's the point in having access to the BRB if it doesn't get used liberally? I would have tidied them all away and boosted your ad revenue by a few bob too.

Oliviaaaaah while you are here why was the foul and depraved Jeremy Kyle thread moved to other subjects from chat? Is that the new naughty corner? Grin

Oh and Kat kicked me out of AIBU when I was clearly being VERY Unreasoanble.

OnlyANinja · 01/02/2012 16:00

TSSDNCOP, or so I hear.

Honeydragon · 01/02/2012 16:03

The Secret Service can answer this one, or I'm going to have HOURS of fun reporting posts

By the way

masquerading is wearing a mask and dancing about pretending to be something you're not

mascarading is something to do with mascara?

KatieMiddleton · 01/02/2012 17:37

It is something to do with an iphone. But thank you for noticing.

My iphone only corrects to real words.

Stupidly wrong and inappropriate real words, but "real" nevertheless.

Right I have just been back through the local listings after a very nice email from Sandy and I have an important point to make:

Courses are not events.

Whether it is a two day class or a 7 week course, unless anybody can attend any of the days when it is running then it is not an event. At the moment there are several courses with dates like 31 Jan-6 March which clutter up the top listings and mean it is a pain for anyone who has to wade through to find something they can actually attend. Listing the start date only for courses would solve this particular problem (although I do take issue as to whether a course is an event but I'll let the pedants worry about that). PLEASE can you do something about this. It is doing my nut.

But worst of all it has made me go over to the dark side. Yes, I have had to go to Nethuns to find something that I can actually go to. You fiends.

There are events in York Local that have a time period of years ie one is from 19 April 09 to 29 September 24. That will be at the top for ever a long time. Did try reporting them but nothing has happened. Another course is going on until 2020.

It irrationally bothers me.

KatieMiddleton · 05/02/2012 14:03

It is not irrational QED. It is a perfectly valid and normal response to what is an extremely annoying practice. Do not diminish your righteous feelings. We are right.

Hello all,

We do see where you are coming from and please do keep reporting and we will take a look and move them to the correct place or delete.

Sometimes this can take us a little while but we do try to get them moved asap.

KatieMiddleton · 05/02/2012 17:24

Hurrah! Thank you. I've just looked and it is beautifully tidy now. The first event is next Tuesday, the rest are all practical things for the kids in half term. Lovely :)

Have reported some of the York listings that are particularly bothering me Grin

KatieMiddleton · 21/02/2012 21:20

I have reported this a gazillion times. Weight Watchers meetings are NOT an event. They are meetings.

Thread here in case it has gone into the black hole. Again. www.mumsnet.com/local/richmond-upon-thames/events/62725-weight-watchers-barnes-meeting-?call=ForthcomingEvent

so things like the Red Cross saying they have courses throughout 2012 and to contact them for details shouldn't be in local events then? Just one-of things?

KatieMiddleton · 22/02/2012 19:54

Well it's not an event you can go to is it? There is a section for first aid course and it should go there.

The events feed through to the box on the right. Therefore any of these listings need to be for things that people can actually go to. Not vague promises of things to come or adverts for businesses.

Red Cross First Aid Course on X date in is IMHO fine. It is an event.

Red Cross offers first aid courses posted to sit in the events section for months is just irritating and pointless. Might as well have Barclays offers financial reviews or NCT does antenatal classes.

But someone from MNHQ will be along in a minute to clarify Grin
