I have an idea. You should make a MN-Deck, that pushes peoples posts on threads DIRECT to their own facebooks, linkedins, and twitter accounts

ALL AT ONCE!

Every single post, that is connected to the email address on file, BAM across ALL types of social media in ONE swoop!

Hassledge · 09/12/2011 17:11

Noooo. My MN world and my RL world can NEVER collide.

QuintessentiallyFestive · 09/12/2011 17:17

It would allow you to be just ONE person across all mediums, rather than keep track of so many accounts! So confusing.

And some people already do it with twitter and facebook and linkedin, why not mix mn in to it! I am sure mnhq can negotiate a really good advertising and revenue sharing deal with both facebook and twitter, seeing that so many more people will be on all of them, rather than on some select.

What hassledge said. No, no, and thrice no.

daveywarbeck · 09/12/2011 17:20

I would de-reg if that happened. DO you really think people want their threads in relationships for example, broadcast to their FB friends - such as their husband?

madwomanintheattic · 09/12/2011 17:22

er, no.
i flounced just because they put the damn fb and twitter buttons in, and then had to grovel to get my nn back.

linking everything would be the fastest, best and easiest way for the stalkers to get a hit every time. make the mra's job real easy.

i have absolutely no desire for my anonymous moans about school, sn, weight loss or just general mardiness to be accountable to my mother (not that she's on fb, but whatever)

that would be the point at which i became an ex-mner. and i wouldn't creep back and beg, either.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 09/12/2011 17:23

No way, never.....not that I do FB or twitter or the like anywayConfused

I like my anonymity though, I would hate anyone I knew to know my posting name on here IYSWIM. I really can't think why it would be a good idea!!

winterfox · 09/12/2011 17:23

ha if my posts were linked in to my linkedin i wouldn't get any jobs Grin

QuintessentiallyFestive · 09/12/2011 17:23

Ok so not a great idea.

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 09/12/2011 17:24

Well that went down well, Quint! Xmas Grin

QuintessentiallyFestive · 09/12/2011 17:26

I guess I posted my op without thinking it through much.

I have just joined linkedin, and realized that one of my friends is on there, and she is a connection now. But she is using it in pretty much the same way as facebook, and there are around 10 updates a day about craft activities she does with her kids. And on twitter. I just found it a bit odd, they are three such different mediums, and she uses them in the same way indistinguishably. Is that the norm? Do they not serve different purposes?

lol BIWI! Grin

daveywarbeck · 09/12/2011 17:28

For me linkedin is for professional contacts, fb is a means to keep up to date with far flung family, MN is for talking shite. I do not the three mixed.

DressingGownSnowQueen · 09/12/2011 17:30

God no. NO!

I would leave in a second. I cant have all my facebook friends knowing how bloody boring I am Xmas Grin

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 09/12/2011 17:39

I use them very differently. Linked in is definitely only for work. Facebook is for family and RL friends, with some MNetters for good measure Wink. I have 3 Twitter accounts - one for my MN persona, one for my RL name and one for my company. I would hate all of these to get mixed up.

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 09/12/2011 17:40

... although I also have a few MNetters on Linked In now Grin

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 09/12/2011 17:43

They get everywhere, those MNetters. Pesky little creatures.

Trills · 09/12/2011 17:45

That's a ridiculous idea.

Trills · 09/12/2011 17:45

^ That post, for example, what would it mean on Twitter or Facebook?

Posts on threads are in reply to something, they don't make sense on their own.

OliviaMumsnet · 09/12/2011 17:48

We love an idea here even a not v well though through one
Thanks Quint. Grin

QuintessentiallyFestive · 09/12/2011 17:51

they do, Biwi, Grin You can thank the email address books overzealous attitude for that!

Trills · 09/12/2011 17:57

At least it's an idea posted in Site Stuff, where ideas about the site belong :)

bigTillyMincepie · 09/12/2011 17:59

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I do NOT want everything joined up - whatever happened to a bit of privacy?Grin

SantasStrapon · 11/12/2011 18:50

God no! I post so much, I'd break FB and Twitter. Xmas Blush

DodieSmith · 14/12/2011 01:44

NOOO!

YABU!

Thumbinnapuddingwitch · 16/12/2011 02:36

Can't believe your friend uses her LinkedIn account to post daily trivia about her life! Xmas Shock - I use it only for professional contacts, although I do have personal friends on there as well - but it's ONLY used for professional updates. FB is for the trivia, MN for chat and problems. I have no clue how to use Twitter, despite having been a member for 2 years now, I have only ever tweeted once and it still makes fuck-all sense to me.

And if it turns out that this IS the reason for that new FB Like button at the top of most threads, then you'd better don your tin hat and hide, Quint!! Xmas Grin
