I don't mind the ones where they start a thread saying 'can we have your feedback?'

That is IMO fine.

But official Government Here and

YaMaYaMa · 21/11/2011 17:26

The thing I really have a problem with is that I absolutely despise this terrible govt that has no real mandate and yet is having a real and negative impact on people's lives. So why are they imposing themselves, uninvite, on a website I enjoy spending time on? If someone wants to read DoE blurb then they can do so at if DoE website. This isn't a free party political broadcast and image building site. It's absolutely wrong that they should take it upon themselves to have a 'presence' here.

Hi All,

Thanks for reporting this to us and for posting.

We have spotted this poster (thanks to the reports last week) and we have mailed them to say that posting on the boards really isn't on and if they would like to engage with MNetters it is much better to do it through MNHQ.

As far as we could see their posts were fairly harmless so we thought it best to leave them to stand for now but please do report if any more appear as we have specifically asked that they come to us if they have relevant information that they would like to pass onto you.

Peachy · 21/11/2011 17:28

Thank you MNHQ, thhat is the answer I hoped you would give.

I trust they ignored your requst then?

Peachy · 21/11/2011 17:29

And yes YaMa

This is where I come when Government policy scares me witless. A refuge. Thus I have blovked politics and InTheNews for the same reasons, ages ago.

hrhcharles · 21/11/2011 17:32

Do you mind if I'm King?

I like horses and dogs.

MildlyNarkyPuffin · 21/11/2011 17:33

If they're really posting on here to gauge public opinion, maybe the nice civil servants could pass my opinions on to the policy makers.

STOP TRYING TO DESTROY THE NHS AND PRIVATISING EVERYTHING YOU DIDN'T MANAGE TO LAST TIME

STOP TARGETING THOSE WITH DISABILITIES

IF WE NEED TO CUT SPENDING, STOP PISSING AWAY MONEY ON VOTE GRABBERS LIKE WEEKLY BIN COLLECTIONS AND IDEOLOGICAL BOLLOCKS LIKE FREE SCHOOLS IN AREAS WHERE THERE IS ALREADY SUFFICIENT PROVISION

Peachy · 21/11/2011 17:34

PS if they want to do teh usual thing of coming on for webchats about childacre etc bring it on. And quite a few other bits too.

THAT side of it I notice has deminished... send us your info but please do not expect yer acktewal interaction.

Peachy · 21/11/2011 17:34

hrhcharles · 21/11/2011 17:36

No, Peachy dear, I'm forthcoming.

It's just that some seem to favour my ds.

MildlyNarkyPuffin · 21/11/2011 17:37

Oh, and

*IF YOU'RE GOING TO PREACH NEO LIBERALISM TRY AND AT LEAST READ HAYEK FIRST.

headfairy · 21/11/2011 17:37

:o Mildly

We should have a specific thread(s) for ranting at government departments... One for each department, with a special shiney one for shiney Dave. Mind you the vitriol on that one would make it not particularly suitable for a family website :o

Peachy · 21/11/2011 17:45

DS1 saw your DS in a car with his beloved alst week HRH. that of course is apropos of nothing at all, but I prefer your dogs over his feline wife

Peachy · 21/11/2011 17:45

HF

now THAT I fancy

mind there is a thread atm asking if people fancy DC.

Er no.

threefeethighandrising · 21/11/2011 17:52

I reckon the government's on here all the time trying to gauge popular support for some of their more inhumane / unsavory policies e.g. threads like "AIBU ti to think that elderly people living alone in 3/4 bed council houses should not have a choice about whether they want to stay there?"

Paranoia or realistic?

I can see it making complete sense to their policy people.
Cameron does have a marketing / media background after all.

Sevenfold · 21/11/2011 18:05

well imo it is crap, I don't post on mn to get it "from the horses mouth" I post to talk to people who might be going though the same thing.
If I want to talk to a government department I will contact them via their website,

I think MNHQ's suggestion sounds good - they can come on and get genuine helpful information into the appropriate threads, but MNHQ will I hope stop them from teetering into brainwash territory (which would not only be bad in itself, but would detail helpful practical threads into massive political bunfights as everyone piles on and tells them to sod off).

I've seen a couple of threads started by implausible work-shy scroungers which I suspect may have been a front for right wing think tanks trying to whip up anti benefit sentiment.

We're looking for views on free childcare places for two year olds - who should get it and for how long?

We'd really like to hear what you think...

www.education.gov.uk/consultations/index.cfm?action=consultationDetails&consultationId=1782&external=no&menu=1

Supporting Families in the Foundation Years: Proposed Changes to the Entitlement to Free Early Education
This consultation sets out proposals on the new entitlement for two year olds from September 2013, including which children will be eligible. It also includes proposals on the quality and flexibility of the entitlement for two, three and four year olds.

that was on a thread talking about childcare, hardly a contribution to the thread more of a hijack and an advert

Peachy I fancy Dave. Fancy slapping his smug little face that is :o

headfairy · 21/11/2011 18:16

Take that and stick it in your pipe Tory think tank

Sevenfold · 21/11/2011 18:19

headfairy after you have slapped him can my dd slap him

OP posts:
GloriaTheHighlyFlavouredLady · 21/11/2011 18:20

Notice they've never posted on the SEN boards!

headfairy · 21/11/2011 18:21

Sevenfold I think there's going to be a very long queue for slappings. We could always split the queue and have half slap George "Pilsbury Dough Boy" Osborne, he's at least half as culpable.

crazynanna · 21/11/2011 18:23

You lot slap him...I'll kick the shit out of him
