Could we have a drop down box with available name changes?

I was wondering if this would be possible.

A drop down box when we are signed in, so that we could choose which pseudonym we want to use.

So I could have

MmeLindor for normal posting and
SaltandCaramel for blog or maybe
MeMooncupIsStuckUpMeChuff for embarrassing questions (not that it is or ever has been)

so that I don't have to keep going back and forth to MyMumsnet to change names for different threads?

Are you keen, Justine, so those at MNTowers could more easily join in the posting fun? Wink

WhoIsThatMaskedWoman · 19/10/2011 00:18

Excellent idea. I set up lovely new name specially to post rather too identifiable AIBU, but then got distracted and posted loads of stuff that I probably shouldn't have, but couldn't be arsed to change name back to Selina Kyle

FreddieMercurysBolero · 19/10/2011 00:30

Uff. Yes, if it were changed so that all OPs were highlighted, and we could have a drop down box, well, that would just be dandy wouldn't it my dears?

Justine, when you bang on't shed, can I make the following point? Sorry if its been made up-thread, too stressed to take on techi-info at the mo.

A drop-down names menu would be marvellous, as has been said already, by others and myself. BUT my position, and others I'm sure is that I have name-changed becuase of OH stalking, so when I put my computer on to log-in, computer (Windows7) or MN preferences remembers my posting name, which I am no longer using in this case. A list of names would need to be available after logging in email and password, say, otherwise they immediately know all your names, and name-change is rendered completely pointless.
Brew for anyone still following... [hsmile]

Inever
Maybe when Tech is banging his head on the floor in frustration looking into this, we could ask for the ability to delete old names.

In fact, why don't we limit namechanging to 5 names, and if a poster wants a different one, they have to delete one of the old ones.

That would make it more difficult for sockpuppetry.

I agree, would also prevent non-socket puppetry name - hogging too, and release some good names back into the system.

TheRealMBJ · 21/10/2011 06:04

I like the idea of deleting old names too. Some of my old ones are shit, and I'll never use them again. There is no reason for them to carry on clogging the system.

Hey Techie guy/lady! Is it any way possible to add a new emoticon....

I know you have given us the flowers, and the wine glass, and all the halloween stuff, and I am loathe to try and hassle the goose that laid the golden egg and all but...

on another site, the abbreviation ph is used for pig husband. Could we have a pig please?

Could be multi-use, as in pig of a day etc.

Have chocolate and beer at the ready....

FreddieMercurysBolero · 23/10/2011 00:19

A 'hide the poster' option would be marvellous too.

ParsleyTheLioness · 23/10/2011 12:59

Yes it would....
