Can we count how many times a poster has posted on a thread?

BerylStreep · 30/09/2011 23:23

Perhaps I am inhabiting AIBU too much, but I have found myself reading long threads and thinking to myself, 'yes, that point has been made before ...' until I realise, that yes, in fact it has been made many times before, by the same poster repeating ad infinitum.

It would be handy if there was a counter beside a poster e.g. BerylStreep - 5th post on this thread, or in the case of some of our, err, more opinionated persistent posters, 97th post on this thread.

Do you think it is a runner?

But Maryz, don't you realise we have daily post quotas to fulfil? Wink

But I am always right, Maryz!

Sorry.

I agree in regard to serious over-posting. 150 on one thread is a bit worrying, really.

But does it happen that often on most threads?

Ah. I ignore those. They are infamous!

Some of the AIBU threads start with lots of diverse views, but inevitably end up with 2 or 3 posters having a personal ding-dong for flipping ages. Honestly, some people just insist on having the final word. I reckon if someone hasn't been able to say what they need to say within 5 or 6 posts, then it's not really worth reading. I for one, would love to be able to say 'mmm 150th post - I'll not bother reading'.

I end up hiding threads as I can't be bothered to see them coming up on my 'threads I'm on'.

BerylStreep - you should be happy to have had the last say on (many) a subject.

I'm definitely a 'threadkiller' and proud of it :)

"The obnoxious overbearing persistant posters go on and on"

I could un happily name one who jumps on me from a great height and then starts firing random questions (my view to derail the thread). I tend to ignore her nowadays (and the whole topic area where I think she thinks she reigns), though she sometimes appears in other topic areas than her primary concern (which, fortunately, isn't mine!)
