Yes it's been a long and somewhat painful wait but it's here at last!

Get yourself into the iTunes store, search for Mumsnet and it will appear before your very eyes. It is not a mirage.

Android app following soon! (nb the mobile version of Mumsnet is at already available at m.mumsnet.com)

Hope you like it...

(Any complaints to [email protected] Grin)

@CointreauVersial

Ooh, how long for the Android one? Days? Months? Years?

I am tossing up whether to buy an iphone or android-equivalent, and this just might tip the balance.

Well I'm told a matter of weeks, but I myself will believe it when I see it wouldn't like to promise an exact date.

@ILoveTIFFANY

Ooh it's strange!!

Not keen on the bright 'period' red vodaphone ad tho!!Hmm

Love the easy to do smileysGrin

Vodafone helped build it - in return they get branding for a bit.

Thanks for all your feedback, we're extremely relieved pleased that most of it is positive.

We can't answer every question on this thread but hopefully this covers quite a few.

On a general note, this is version 1.0 of the app and we will be collating all the suggestions here into a list that will inform improvements to version 1.1 or 2.0 or whatever the tech team decide to call it. We fully realise that version 1.0 doesn't replicate the full Mumsnet Talk experience quite yet but we'll do our best to get somewhere close to it in the next iteration .

We have no plans to stop the mobile version of the site as we've spent some time over the last few months making improvements to it and now think that it's rather good.

As Justine wrote earlier, the Android app will follow in the next month or so by the end of summer. Blackberry app plans are being considered.

That's it for now, keep the feedback coming and enjoy the app.

DarrenMumsnet · 08/06/2011 15:26

My apologies for forgetting our panel of beta testers, without whom the app wouldn't be anywhere near as good as it is. Thank you all.

DarrenMumsnet · 09/06/2011 11:07

Hi all
The app crashing at load screen seems to be have happened a few times. Tech have now been informed so watch this space for further news.

Tech · 09/06/2011 14:39

Hi there, Those you have that have crashes, I wonder if you could do me a favour. Could you go to whatismyipaddress.com/ to find out your IP address. It displays in a section like the bit pasted below. Could you paste the "IP Information" into an email and send it to [email protected]. Then we can look in our logs to see if your app is getting as far as trying to reach us and download info. That might help us inform the developers of what to look for.

Thanks,
Tech

Sample output from whatsmyipaddress:

IP Information: 174.48.x.x
ISP: Comcast Cable
Organization: Comcast Cable
Connection: Broadband
Proxy: None Detected

Tech · 09/06/2011 14:41

Doh, typo. For

Tech · 10/06/2011 13:11

Just further to my message earlier about IP addresses. If you are going to send us the IP address, it needs to be the one of the phone, not your home computer. It might be the same or it might not, depending on how you are connected up. So, to help us track down the crash problem, and if you have time, could someone affected do this:

Go to the app and let it crash
Immediately open safari and go to whatismyipaddress.com and copy / paste the ip address it displays into an email to [email protected].

Sorry, I appreciate this is fiddly, but if you have time it might help.

Ta very much....

GeraldineMumsnet · 11/06/2011 13:09

wannaBe, sorry, sorry, for not seeing this sooner. And thank you for flagging this particular shortcoming. Am off to find somebody who might be able to shed a bit more informed light on this problem and whether it can be fixed. Bear with us!

Tech · 11/06/2011 17:23

Hi, as far as we can tell, no-one has successfully used the app on an ipad. It seems like the iPod touch might be a problem too. If you have either of those and are successfully using the app on them, it would be interesting for us to hear about.

Thanks for all the feedback so far. We are compiling a list to pass to the developers. We aren't sure yet when things will get fixed, but please bear with us. Thanks.

JustineMumsnet · 14/06/2011 22:20

@VivaLeBeaver

Can someone post a link to the mobile version please, I can't find it. It's odd that the app doesn't work on iPad, they normally do and just need x2

mobile is m.mumsnet.com

Yes the ipad thing is disappointing, I agree. Apologies we are looking at it!

JustineMumsnet · 14/06/2011 22:23

@ChaosTrulyReigns

We have certainly cut a few rations Chaos Grin.

DarrenMumsnet · 28/06/2011 10:48

Apologies for the recent radio silence but we've spent the last couple of weeks badgering hectoring in conversation with the company who built the iPhone app for us, with regard to it not working on iPad.

They have informed us that they expect to have the problem fixed by the end of this week. As soon as we know more we'll be in touch.
