Extremely slow for me.

oldsilver · 17/05/2011 21:34

Same problems here; verrrry slow, screen sometimes goes all funny looking, and when you press refresh it sometimes takes so long it chucks you out - do you realise how many times this happens when you are a nobdie... Grin

usualsuspect · 17/05/2011 21:41

Its just gone all weird Grin

no other websites affected for me

screen sometimes goes all funny looking - hmm, wonder if you mean it doesn't get the CSS files.

Click This do you see a screen of lots of stuff like .ui-helper-hidden{display:none}.ui-helper-hidden-accessible{position:absolute;left:-99999999px}.ui-helper-

If so, then that's some of the CSS and your computer can obtain that file (it's just shown it to you). So that would then rule that out of being the problem.

Traceroute is showing for me that there are packet loss on the Level3 network in London (car2.london2.level3.net). That will be causing delays. Also now getting problems with core2.London1.level3.net

Possibly things will get better tomorrow.

piprabbit · 17/05/2011 22:03

When my MN was going funny yesterday, it looked like it had lost all the sexy formatting and alignments. Just had everything in a long list down the left-hand side of the page, no pictures or anything.

HauntedLittleLunatic · 17/05/2011 22:11

Pip...

2 (or more documents) make up a web page. One makes it look pretty called a stylesheet. The other contains the words.

Yesterday the style sheet wasn't loading but the words were...giving the effect you describe.

hulababy · 17/05/2011 22:15

Tis very very slow again tonight.

nannynick · 17/05/2011 22:36

The mumsnet site is working fine as far as I can see. The issues are between you and the mumsnet servers. You or Mumsnet are unable to do anything about that. Tis the way the of the internet at times I'm afriad... if a cable goes down the traffic gets rerouted and gets snarled up.

Think about it like the M25 on Friday night. Things just grind to a halt at times!

JustineMumsnet · 17/05/2011 23:24

We are looking at this folks. Can I ask do you have pagination on or are you on unlimited messages per page?

AnyFucker · 17/05/2011 23:25

pages

ChristinedePizan · 17/05/2011 23:26

I'm on 100 m/p

JustineMumsnet · 17/05/2011 23:27

@AnyFucker

pages

How many messages per page AF?

AnyFucker · 17/05/2011 23:29

50

AitchTwoOh · 17/05/2011 23:31

i;m not doing pages and it's been murderous tonight.

ChristinedePizan · 17/05/2011 23:34

You killed the theory Aitch :(

AnyFucker · 17/05/2011 23:36

is pagination even a real word ?

sounds made-up to me Smile

AitchTwoOh · 17/05/2011 23:43

i like one big loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong page. Grin (when it loads)

simpson · 17/05/2011 23:46

I'm not doing pages either, but tbh in the last 30mins or so it has beeen better

AnyFucker · 17/05/2011 23:50

yep, improved here too

just like last night < hard stare >

AitchTwoOh · 17/05/2011 23:54

yup, much better here too.

piprabbit · 17/05/2011 23:56

Do you think it get's better when all the lightweights go to bed?

MrsShrekTheThird · 17/05/2011 23:58

yep, speeds up about 11.30pm Grin

nannynick · 18/05/2011 00:19

I do unlimited, no pages. It's been fine mostly for me this evening (only one occurrence of the CSS not loading).

I suspect Level3 having connection issues... would result in it working for some users and not for others I believe, depending on the routing.

nannynick · 18/05/2011 00:23

Justine - have a look at <a class="break-all" href="http://myspeed.visualware.com/servers/namerica/iad.php?testtype=-3&codebase=mcslhr.visualware.com&message=Speed%20connection%20test%20helps%20to%20pre%20qualify%20customers&location=UK:%20London&ver=9&map=uk&pps=50&bpp=160&codec=G.711&provtext=Visualware&provlink=www.visualware.com/&width=600" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">VisualWare Traceroute (requires Java)

It's still showing for me that there is packet loss at car2.London2.Level3.net
Level3 I expect have engineers working on the problem.
