Can we talk about efficient boxes please?

Myself and 3 many other posters have come to the conclusion that our MN experience would be muchly enhanced by an adjustment of our boxes.

When posting, it seems necessary to type and then scroll down annoyinyestly to actually find the "Post Message" button.

This must slow down our rapid response rate substandardly.

We would be quite happy with the capacity to post without extra scrolling. Lawks knows there's aenough scrolling on here in the average day.

The button could be conveniently located in the vast white space to the right of the box. Or above the message box.

Thanks for listening through partially covered eyes.

Farking annoying and time consuming to scroll to post. We'd all be able to post a lot more if the box is moved Grin

What chaos said. Could you please add an extra post button please, for those of us who end up with a nasty repetitive scroll injury after watching, for example, masterchef?. Please thank you.

I agree - its very annoying, some thread need lightening fast posting, my reflexes are good for my age but I'm hampered by the malpositioned boxes.

If you can do dragons and crowns, shifting a box should be a doddle grin]

Also on the same subject when a thread reaches say 100 posts could it automatically 'grow' a back-to-top button (or a back-to-bottom button for those odd people who read from newest to oldest!) to avoid excessive scrolling back to the top for the menu buttons

been meaning to ask for ages but I haven't so i'll just hijack Chaos's thread instead

Can I just point out there isn't a vast white space to the right when the thread is still very short, it's full of all those MNTV boxes and stuff.

However I do agree with the spirit of OPs request. There is a bit of white space to the left of the message box for smaller buttons. Or at a push they could be located just above the message box?

Isn't it about time the Techs invented some kind of direct mind-sucking technology so we wouldn't even need to click a button. Just plug in and start brain-farting all over the boards Grin

fruitshoots there is a back to top button on your keyboard - try pressing the 'Home' key. And the 'End' key jumps to the bottom.

LOL, how did the keyboard react to having every key pressed??? My 'Home' key rather helpfully is labelled 'Home' and is located top right (just under the 'Delete' key).

Do you have a Mac? - they can be right odd

Err, you don't have to scroll away from the text box and click anything - just press tab then enter, et voila, your post appears..

yes i do have a Mac, and pressing every key did some very peculiar things to all the windows, brightness, sound and mouse. Never found a home key though Grin

Quick Google suggests for a mac

Home: Fn+left arrow
End: Fn+right arrow

Does that help?

I am not sure I understand your request. When I type in this box here that I am currently typing in, my post message button is right there, no scrolling necessary.

Perhaps this is not a MN issue but simply the fact that y'all need bigger monitors? And larger laptops? And huge smart phones? Grin

Just depends how far down one scrolls before starting to type. I've got a suitably big one (2 screens of 1280 x 1024 currently, moving to 4x 1920x1080 in the future, on this PC and these screens will go on another machine) to do all I need but still the buttons to preview and post are routinely outside the visible portion of the browser windows!

Really? I'm currently on my work laptop and it's only 15 inches (said the actor to the bishop) and I can still see the preview and post message buttons without scrolling!

What are you people doing?

Posting here now is fine and I can see the box. It's only really a pain when I'm on a fast pacing thread and for some reason you end up having to scroll down to the flipping post box!

I'm simply viewing a post and have the 'add your message here' section but the buttons are still out of view. No way to see them without scrolling down a bit, whereas if they were above the entry box they'd be immediately usable.

I don't see how you could have the input box and all the posts visible at once, ie without scrolling, unless your merely suggesting this is the case for effect !
