I like the new look but the facebook and twitter buttons are scrolling down the screen and it's driving me mad!

Tis very off putting.

I keep closing them and they come back. I don't want them and I don't do Facebook or Twitter.

Sunshinenow · 20/04/2011 13:35

please make them go. I have a small net book and it takes up too much space. Please have an optional turn off.

MummyDoIt · 20/04/2011 13:37

There's a little x to the right of them so can you close the menu down.

Bucharest · 20/04/2011 13:42

But it only works on that one page, then they come back.
It is slowly my computer down and making it howl in pain like it does when big graphicky things open up.
It's driving me mad, the dangly penis thing I can cope with, but not how it'sslowed everything down.

NotTheMessiahJustMouseface · 20/04/2011 13:43

I CAN'T STAND IT!!!!!

Please MNHQ, ask tech very nicely to give us the option to turn it off, not just close it using the little x.

I'm with Sunshinenow as I too use a netbook. I wonder how iPhone users are finding it?

MummyDoIt · 20/04/2011 13:45

That's weird. I used the little x and it hasn't come back.

Twit · 20/04/2011 13:45

Agreed, if we could click it and get rid of it once and for all that would be great.
My laptop is crap slow anyway but now....

MummyDoIt · 20/04/2011 13:46

Bucharest, you have made me laugh! Only on MN could it be referred to as a dangly penis!

clitorisorclitoraint · 20/04/2011 13:46

Erm, MNHQ, can't you just have the facebook/twitter/etc. icons running horizontally instead so that they fall within the blue tool bar instad of HANGING HALFWAY DOWN MY BLOODY SCREEN. Thanks ;)

Sunshinenow · 20/04/2011 13:47

I can't even see a little x. It's not set up for the screen resolutions for netbook.

agghhhhhh.

I am on Chrome by the way. Can't see the close x.

SolosEggSpoonentiallyShrinking · 20/04/2011 13:48

I haven't got that...am I missing out?

notcitrus · 20/04/2011 13:49

I can't scroll to the right (the rest of the screen scrolls fine) so I can't get to the right of the blue toolbar to get to the X to close the bloody thing!

Also with my netbook the screen cuts off about 1/2 inch of text on the right which is really annoying, but I don't know if that's Mumsnet's poor design or my machine?

Bucharest · 20/04/2011 13:49

Oooh, they've put the penis horizontal!

MummyDoIt · 20/04/2011 13:51

I'm sure there's a penis erection joke in there somewhere.

shefliesthrutheair · 20/04/2011 13:53

MN, you need "display:inline" on your viewport menu's li's!! :)

SolosEggSpoonentiallyShrinking · 20/04/2011 13:53

Lol! maybe that's why I wasn't having penis trouble! it was already horizontal when I came on to MN today Grin

DillyDaydreaming · 20/04/2011 13:55

It is driving me fucking mad tech. Sort it out....please....

QuickLookBusy · 20/04/2011 13:56

It's annoying me too and I've only been on for 5 minutes.

I don't want facebook and twitter things popping up without my permission thank you very much.

NotTheMessiahJustMouseface · 20/04/2011 14:02

Grin at me ol' mucker Bucharest

Bucharest · 20/04/2011 14:07

Grin at Mouseface. I knew you'd sniff out a dangly penis on a thread.....
(at least we can see this one)

RustyBear · 20/04/2011 14:12

If you close your browser, reopen it and then turn the floating bar off it should stay off.
They are going to have it as a customisable option in a few days - see the 'blink of an eye' thread in Site stuff

NotTheMessiahJustMouseface · 20/04/2011 14:42

Ahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa Bucharest - you know me so well Wink

Thanks Rusty, will go peek at the tread and try to ignore dangly cocks Grin

candleshoe · 20/04/2011 15:00

Sending me mad too!

TandB · 20/04/2011 16:01

Mine keeps coming back - very annoying.

thumbbunny · 20/04/2011 16:05

Have you closed your browser and reopened it? Although someone on the other thread is having ongoing problems with it as well, might be an idea to let Techs know which version of MN and which internet explorer you are using so they can see if there is a common element (and possibly which hardware!)

Was VERY happy when they allowed me to get rid of the dangly floaty thing, it was very fucking annoying.
