MN needs this smiley.

I think many of us have a deep need for this smiley. It could, quite honestly, change our MN lives [deadpan]

A [sarcastic] one would be v useful too.

OP posts:
ShirleyKnot · 15/02/2011 12:23

great idea [deadpan]

ShowOfHands · 15/02/2011 12:25

Woohoo, more smilies.

[deadpan]

whomovedmychocolate · 15/02/2011 12:27

I use Hmm for deadpan. Which I think is deadpan with a sarky follow up.

SlubberdeVelcro · 15/02/2011 13:15

For the love of God NO MORE EMOTICONS.

Right here right now we are on the slippery slope. We are on the slope on a sledge. The sledge has been oiled. In the sledge is a block of butter into which has been engraved the words I'M FALLING.

No more.

I love putting things into square brackets

Look

[wimple]

I just made the wimple emoticon. It is a yellow face with a pointy hat on, maybe even a gauzy scarf, there is a regal medieval look about it.

We do not need any more bleeding pictures. We can imagine things in our heads

MadreInglese · 15/02/2011 13:17

we're only a few emoticons away from tickersville....

SlubberdeVelcro · 15/02/2011 13:26

And nauseatingly dreadful signatures with Oscar Wilde and Eleanor Roosevelt quotes.

And likes and 'has been thanked 400,000 times in 125,000,000 posts'

And just posts and posts and posts full of stupid tiny pictures.

I do not need to see a picture of a poxy old Esso Points free by wine glass full of some shitola Jacobs Creek, I can imagine it all quite by myself thankyouverymuch.

I am going to make my own personal private stand.

I'm not going to use ANY of the emoticons ever again

mmm apart from Hmm

And maybe not forever but for a good long while.

[heightened folded arms]

TrillianAstra · 15/02/2011 13:31

I agree with Slubs.

Imagination is the key.

GrimmaTheNome · 15/02/2011 13:33

But what would [deadpan] or [sarcastic] look like?

I had a strange moment yesterday when I thought that just for the day they should have had a [heart] - its ok, I'm better now.

everythingchanges I [flared nostrils] at your blanketyblank chequebook and pen [stained mug brew] and [quiet disdain but covers it well with weak smile] at your [winky face]

SlubberdeVelcro · 15/02/2011 13:37

Mary that's not much of a stand really is it? More of a sit down heavily on the sofa with a bit of a grump on.

Ok I'm not going to use any of them until Easter.

I am starting emoticon Lent early.

PoledrathePissedOffFairy · 15/02/2011 13:37

There's just so much more scope when you leave it to our imaginations. See, to Slubber

[wimple]

is "...a yellow face with a pointy hat on, maybe even a gauzy scarf, there is a regal medieval look about it."

To me

[wimple]

means a nun.

The possibilities are endless

DirtyMartini · 15/02/2011 13:37

What? What's that thing in everything's post? What happened to the old teacup? FGS why does everything keep EVOLVING when I'm not looking.

And if that is supposed to be an MN logo on the mug I'm afraid it is too little. I thought it was a blue maple leaf.

TrillianAstra · 15/02/2011 13:38

I dislike the Sad. It's too blue for anything less than a death of a loved one, or maybe a very good pet (dog yes, hamster no).

It's just too sad to use to say 'oh dear my grocery order didn't have any icecream and I'm a tad disappointed'.

Poldera I just madly googled wimple in case I was incorrect with wimple usage. It's OK and yes it's totally versatile.

Trillian I have used the [blue face]before but you are right it always feels a bit unwieldily. No more for me. I'm going to express my sadness via the medium of the written word.

lukewarmmama · 15/02/2011 14:15

In principle I agree with you all.

But I did just post on a thread where I thought a [pair of pants] emoticon might be just the ticket - as in 'ooooh, get her, judgy pants'

Come on, you know it makes sense. Big bloomers though, none of your lacy black thongs.

BeribbonedGibbon · 15/02/2011 14:47

They can get rid of the wine and tea [vom] and the weird bear.

I said myself earlier that the wine and tea were too close to a ticker for my liking.

But [deadpan] is needed on MN.

I am even tempted to

OP posts:
BeribbonedGibbon · 15/02/2011 14:49

Everyone uses Hmm to denote deadpan/sarcasm but it's sceptical.

It's not the same.

OP posts:
CaptainNancy · 15/02/2011 15:02

I think Slubber means [hennin] not [wimple]
[deadpan]
