So where's the cup of tea emoticon then?

I see we have a new wine glass emoticon! Jolly good! But some of us would prefer a good old cup of tea.

Do you think you could cater for the likes of us too?

Lots of love,

Norman x

I think MNHQ didn't think this one through, I would like to say that Wine glass emoticon is very insulting on a lot of levels, firstly are they implying we are a bunch of drunks? Secondly think of all the Muslims out there they don't want to be doing with a wine glass thingy thirdly what if you upset the AA brigade how would hq explain that?
Please MNHQ rethink and provide us with a teacup emoticon. Thank you.

btw - it's because lots and lots of posters said they wanted one - and moaned and whined for aaaaages.

NormanTheForeman · 04/02/2011 16:11

Actually I do like the Wine, but it is a bit unseemly to be using it all day, when a cuppa is much more the thing at breakfast time! And you could assume the cup contained coffee/hot chocolate/other hot beverage for the non-tea drinkers.....

you shouldn't drink tea with food, because it stops the blood absorbing iron.

HelenMumsnet · 04/02/2011 16:12

Could be a nice cup of redbush, mebbe?

nickelthenaughtybutnicefairy · 04/02/2011 16:13

except that tastes horrible.... Grin

GwendolineMaryLacey · 04/02/2011 16:14

Bugger Redbush, that's for girls.

NormanTheForeman · 04/02/2011 16:14

Ah, but nickel I tend to drink the tea at breakfast time, but have the actual breakfast a bit later Blush. I need the tea to wake my stomach up first!

OP posts:
nickelthenaughtybutnicefairy · 04/02/2011 16:14

okay, that's fine - you can leave an hour.

NormanTheForeman · 04/02/2011 16:15

Redbush isn't real tea, but you could use the cuppa emoticon for all hot beverages! It's very inclusive!

What about those of us who don't like wine or tea?

At least I like biscuits Grin, but just to clarify, are they the sort with jam and cream in the middle (yum) or the similar looking but inferior tasting jammy dodgers?

NormanTheForeman · 04/02/2011 16:16

Nickel, I usually do leave an hour (have cuppa when get up, then eat breakfast after returning from dropping ds at school) Grin

LadyPumpington · 04/02/2011 16:16

Oh come on us lovely ladies we love our cuppa.
I want a teacup I want a teacup

NormanTheForeman · 04/02/2011 16:17

Do you like any other hot beverages Janice? The cuppa emoticon could cover any of them. Otherwise we may have to ask for a glass of water/beer/whatever emoticon as well.....

[hot beverage] probably suffices.

LadyPumpington · 04/02/2011 16:20

No probs Norman? Anything for a cuppa. Are you a bloke? Not being sexist but shouldn't you be on dadsnet?

CuppaTeaJanice · 04/02/2011 16:23

Well ok I do like hot chocolate, but it has to have squirty cream piled high like a Mr Whippy ice cream. It would be evident from the tea smiley that the cream was missing.

Still think we should have a judgey pants emoticon though.

MadameOvary · 04/02/2011 16:23

Tea...hmmm ok.
But not cake. Before you know it that will lead to chocolates, stilettos, a heart...you can see where I'm going with this can't you?

MadameOvary · 04/02/2011 16:23

Oh, YES, definitely a judgey pants!

NormanTheForeman · 04/02/2011 16:24

Lol, LadyP, I am sort of a bloke.... I am a Playmobil plastic figure, not actually a Dad.

I belong to the ds of SoMuchToBits, so she has kindly lent me the use of her MN registration so that I can campaign for a cuppa emoticon. Smile

Ah, but Maryz that would be discriminatory to people posting in Australia, for example....
