fgs why cant we delte own posts in say a 10min time fram after posting

and 2, can we have an @ style arrow for replying to people

like @wankerchops no i think your idea is great

kinda thing

OP posts:
WikiSpeaks · 25/01/2011 16:48

Chipping - yes just click the x at the left hand side of the screen.

bumpybecky · 25/01/2011 16:50

what I'd really like is if my posts could be in a different colour, like the OP's replies and HMNHQ's messages

I don't mean all of my replies in colour for everyone, just the option of having the logged in user's replies shown in a different colour

does that make sense?!

sometimes in really long threads I want to read from where I last posted and my post being in a different colour would make it easier to find :)

bumpybecky · 25/01/2011 16:51

not sure where that H came from... bit like an HRH maybe for MNHQ?!

WikiSpeaks · 25/01/2011 16:51

bumpy - you can if you change the version of MN you're using.

Mine are all green!

southeastastra · 25/01/2011 16:52

can i have all my posts in the arial point 10 font - with a little shadowing effect, thanks

WikiSpeaks · 25/01/2011 16:52

Sorry - that was a LIE - 'tis only if I started the thread. D'oh!!!

bumpybecky · 25/01/2011 16:54

but wouldn't it be lovely if your own posts were a different colour :)

I don't even mind which colour!

oooh good :)

rose pink would be a bit girls I think. See that purple down there [looks down page to the preview and post buttons] that's nice :)

WikiSpeaks · 25/01/2011 16:59

What about a colour that reflects the tone of your post?

Red if you're angry, green if you're jealous, yellow if you're happy....

That's what I told them bumpyb.

I said they could pick any colour they liked off the F&B chart. Grin

They're thinking about it.

I fecking hope they haven't gorn down to B&Q to "colour-match". I'll know.

Humph

ChaosTrulyReigns · 25/01/2011 17:29

WikiP I've just read your post.

I thought only OP's posts and MNHQ's post were highlighted at the moment.

Don't tell me they've succmbed to our ongoing wrangling my requests and changed it without informing me??

DoublayHumph.

GMajor7 · 25/01/2011 17:50

Agree with all those who say a big NO to deleting.

As for an @ function, again NO. Just not necessary.

For example...

ArseWanker I must object to your last post

...is quite sufficient imo.

This is MN, not facebook or twitter, thank goodness.

It was a Lie. I 'fessed up and am seeking counselling as we speak.

ChippingInSmellyCheeseFreak · 25/01/2011 18:58

Bumpy & Maryz - I agree I would like my posts to show up for me as well :) Pink would be fine.

Justine - when the OP Green was introduced quite a lot of us said it was a very difficult colour for us to read the text and we were told it was being looked at (is it still?) it would be great if it was a lot lighter :)

[MNHQ blue is very nice!!]

FluffyMummy123 · 26/01/2011 19:46

The @ thing would be a short hand to the shouty bold.

So you press an arrow by this post and it whizzes to a new box with @icod already there.

Mn has changed in the 10 years it's been going!!

I think I agree I like the non quoting non tickers as we've always said , but if it doesn't take on changes that other social media have it will fail to attract new users who will use more use friendly devices.

OP posts:
Feenie · 26/01/2011 19:48

Good Grin

WikiSpeaks · 26/01/2011 20:06

I really doubt it'll fail to attract new users. MN is more than the sum of its parts. People come here for a variety of reasons. Clear posting and no tickers/gimmicks is part of the attraction for me.

poolet · 26/01/2011 20:22

No to deleting & editing.

No to @, bolding is fine.

Another one here who doesn't like OP green - I find it too dark, it kind of shouts at you [bsmile]

yes we are working on some options - so you can choose.

WikiSpeaks · 26/01/2011 20:48

You see? Quoting is wrong. It's not clear who each point is aimed at.

Psammead · 07/02/2011 12:37

Editing within a short time frame is a great idea.

I don't understand why, on a board which is fairly self-moderated, users don't have this option. Sometimes links go wonky, or typos are made, or you forget to add something to your post. 5 mins to change this is much better than posting several times afterwards to clear up mistakes.

And if someone is hell bent on being rude to soneone else, they would just name change. Much more sneaky and unidentifyable for the other board members than editing.

I dislike the @thing. Quoting is fine by me as I hate when people say 'i agree with xyz' and you have to scroll through pages of thread to see what xyz said. Quoting makes it easier.

EricNorthmansMistress · 07/02/2011 12:54

No to editing. No to quoting. Both v bad.
