Actually, My dad used to work for the Vice squad in Leicester, and I had him on the phone as I was typing. I was hoping something could be done about tracing the Op's Ip address, but obviously didn't want to say so and make the poster log off.

Just think, if it is a pervert, how easy they would be to trace from here and how interesting it would be to, say, follow them around for a few months, to see what contact they have with children.

As I said on the thread, I feel this is a bit of a wake-up call. We don't always know who we're telling things to and it's a good idea sometimes stop ourselves and think why exactly we're sharing personal information (like your children's night attire) with any stranger who asks.

There's often a theme on MN that we're being overprotective and paedophiles and weirdos are few and far between. Sadly, having worked in/around the IT field and knowing people in digital forensics, I don't think they are as few and far between as we'd like. It's astounding what many 'normal' people have in their internet histories.
