Im looking to change my car within the next 6 months....

I have a qashqai atm BUT have always lusted after a VW beetle..esp the cabriolet model...

Come on then...tell me its good & bad points..

Dd is 5 and ds 3 and we may have another lo within the next 12 months... I said to dh, his car can be the family trips car and mine could be the kids car, school run, swimming etc..basically the car that dh doesn't need to use iykwim..

I have only looked at them and never driven so I guess that should be my starting point BUT just wanted a bit of feedback..

Never had one, but am pretty sure you will not get three DC in a VW Beetle. And the boot is not big. Will you need it for going shopping?

I have a Beetle (hatchback not cab) with 2 DC. Beetles are amazing, but not very child friendly. For a start there are only two seatbelts in the back seat, so if you have a third child one of your children will have to sit in the front (you can turn the airbag off with a key) and your DH will have to walk lol. You also have to be very careful choosing car seats and buggies - the boot is tiny and is an irregular shape and the back seats are bucket shaped. I've twinged my back a few times putting a newborn car seat into the back seat, cos you have to climb in while lifting the seat.
All that said ... I love my Beetle. I smile every time I drive it. DS1 (age 3) loves that I have a quirky car and waves to all the other beetles we see. It's incredibly reliable and has needed very little work done on it over the last 5yrs. Go on!!!

thanks mmelindt . I won't need it for shopping which is one reason why im persuaded.. I do an online weekly shop and only pop to the supermarket for bits and pieces during the week.

Cakeforbrains, lol thats what I said to dh..He will be walking.

I thought that would be the case with the seating..I guessed dd (5) would sit in the front if/when we had a baby or even the baby could be in the front..?

I just think they look lovely..

thanks..anyone else..?
