I'm being serious! Wanting to up the ante for my exercise regime (ha! its a few mins on the wii fit at the moment), so would like a bike. But they are so uncomfortable! Anyone got one that is less of a pain in the ass?!

I have a Gazelle - dutch town bike - so brilliant for commuting and it's comfy enough for that. If you want to do serious miles I think you need something more 'springy' - you can ask a bike shop to feet another saddle on to your chosen model.

Thanks for that, yes will probably need a springy seat. Will I just have to sit on lots of them to tell which is more comfy? I will look at Gazelles, but am thinking more of a bike for hills (gulp) and rough terrain (where noone can see me gasping and wheezing).

Yes I would go to an idependant shop and sit, sit, sit. They'll be able to match your chosen bike and saddle.

Robust saddles here

You can choose whichever bike you like, but then just need to find a comfortable saddle to fit to it. Don't choose a whole bike based on a saddle fgs!

And then when you've chosen your comfy saddle to go with a bike the right size for you (common error is to get one too big), get a gel cover for the saddle.

And your bottom bones will toughen up as you ride more...
