Amazing what happens when you mention to a company you might slag them off on Mumsnet!!

Bought my coffee machine back at end of December totally over the moon with it.

When I bought it there were some promotions going on - namely £20 cashback, and a lovely gift set with espresso cups and cappuccino cups, teaspoons, and a load of capsules.....'lovely' I thought, I'll send off for that.

A month passes, so I ring them to find out what has happened to my application. "It's not arrived" they tell me "and the expiry date for the promotions has now past, so you can't re-submit an application....bye bye". Basically tough titty. I was not just that I was missing out on the promotions but because they talked to me like crap.

So.....I emailed the board of the company, in Italy. I happened to mention that if the right thread came up on MN I would relay my story to millions of interested mums! Bingo! The very next day the lovely UK Sales and Marketing Director of the company calls me and apologises for my treatment, they pride themselves on great customer service, so sorry this has happened and guess what...I will get my Cashback, and giftset, and a load of extra capsules. Result!

Just wanted to say never underestimate the power of mentioning MN!

well done.
I did something similar when dd was born she was a few months old when a wheel on her pram broke.
All I wanted was a new wheel nothing too spectacular as it was unusable with the broken wheel.
It turned into a massive saga of maker cannot supply a new wheel so nothing more we can do it went on for weeks.
I was posting somewhere else at the time and told the person at head office that I would be posting and naming and shaming as all I had wanted was a new wheel for a pram less than 6 months old so I could actually use it.
That same day they arranged delivery of a new pram and said they would arrange collection of the old one.
Got new pram 2 days later few days after that a new wheel came through the post from the makers of said pram.

They also dod never arrange collection of the old one, it sat boxed up for about 9 months before put on new wheel and sold it on ebay.

sounds like MN is the new 'watchdog'

I'm waaaaayyy better looking than Nicky Campbell though.

SilveryMoon · 14/02/2010 13:12

I told my friend to refer to MN when complaining at Clarks for not measuring her dd's foot properly

cornsilk · 14/02/2010 13:14

Maybe I should do the same to the white company as they have not contacted me and ignored emails about a cardigan I returned months ago as holes had appeared in it.

cilitbang · 16/02/2010 10:15

Yeah go on cornsilk. Find out the email address of the top cheese then email directly. Works everytime!

I think I will search in the cupboard for the postage receipt. I sent it so that someone would have to sign for it.
