Old Baby Bjorn baby carrier - max weight of baby?

Hi,

I have an old Baby Bjorn carrier (this type) and wanted to know what the weight limit of the baby is in it. We were given the carrier so have never seen the instructions. Any ideas?

I had one of these with my first baby and I can assure you you will have stopped using it long before your baby reaches the manufacturer's weight limit because it will be killing your back by around 4 - 5 months.

They're ok with tiny babies but there are heaps of slings around which will last much, much longer, and be so much more comfortable for you.

4 months old, max. I wrecked my neck using one with ds1. Couldn't manage it at all with ds2 once he was beyond a few weeks old.

Sorry, that wasn't clear. 4 months is the max age of a baby I think you can carry in one; the manufacturer's max weight limit is something ridiculously high iirc.

I've got it in mind that the "official" weight limit is around 9kg, but I'd agree with previous posters - you're very likely to have stopped being able to carry your DC comfortably in a Baby Bjorn way before you reach whatever the weight limit is (I think I lasted about 10 minutes with DD in a Baby Bjorn when she was 3 months, but I'll still carry her happily for an hour or more in a MeiTai or woven wrap and she's now over 2!)
