we're looking for a long-term car-seat for 4yr old, ideally one to last thro to 11 yrs or so.
Main features - super-safe, easy to put them in/put selves in. I've heard the concord brand (from germany is good), but can't find where to get in UK. any recs?
thanks.

The Concord one (Lift)is good and stylish but the head rest has a full height back to it so although you move the cushion up as child grows the support is permanently at full height , obscuring view unnecessarily imho. We have a Maxi Cosi Rodi which has been very good and ds has used it since he was almost 4 (now 7)

we have maxi cosi rodi too, very pleased with it, got it on special offer from kiddicare.com but that was over a year ago

i would recommend the rodi as well. have one for a 7 yo. have the instruction booklet here and it says 15-25kgs with backrest and then up to 36kgs without. hth

I hate this "15kgs+" thing. DD will be 6 before she weighs that much!

Twiglett · 22/04/2005 14:55

maxi cosi rodi

Doddle · 22/04/2005 15:09

Britax Kid is great, has good safety review from the AA too.

LIZS · 22/04/2005 16:39

Know the feeling, fruitful. dd is 3 1/2 and only 12 kgs ! Makes it really hard to accept lifts to and from playgroup when people offer. Actually I do wonder what the structural difference is between the 9kg + ones which use an adult seat belt and 15kg +, or is it just size.

we love our graco one and it has a drinks holder and snack holder built into the base.
