New Phil & Ted sport - fabric seams coming apart - anyone else got same problem?

Hi,

I've got a new P&T Sport in dark blue. Have been using it for 8 weeks for newborn + 23 month old.

In many ways have been very pleased with it - excellent design for compact dual baby transport. However, both seats are literally coming apart at seams in a major way. The main seat is coming apart on 3 different seams (eg 4 inch gap opened at back where baby's head goes). Double seat has 3 inch gap on both sides where the mesh bit by toddlers bottom is. The frame is also coming through the fabric in two place, as if it has worn through.

I use the buggy daily, but it's not folded and put in car very often (so wearing of fabric on frame not due to excessive rubbing around in car boot etc). And I've only owned it since Christmas.

Am rather disappointed, to say the least. The shop where I bought the buggy have ordered a replacement main seat unit and double seat, but have been waiting more than three weeks for these to come in to stock (so, seams had actually given out within first month of proper buggy use).

I know several people who have P&T buggies, have been delighted with them and not had same problem. And have read v good things about them on MN. But maybe it's a specific problem either with the dark blue fabric, or with a recent change in spec?

Has anyone else had same problem? Or can you think of a way that I might mistakenly be misusing the buggy to cause the problem?

Any suggestions or solutions gratefully received!

Have you contacted P&T directly. I know of two occasions where P&T have sent replacements for things without any hassle. I think they are confident enough in their product that they will deal with any problems that arise.

I've been dealing with the local shop where I bought the buggy - they've been very good about it and instantly ordered the replacement seats, but the UK importer is out of stock so don't think things could move any faster. I guess I'm a bit nervous that will have the same problem with the replacements. Don't want to give up on the P&T buggy when have found it ideal in all other ways, and I don't think there's a good alternative. Will just have to wait & see.

I know some time has gone by on this one but googled my issue and this thread came up.

I have had this issue on both the main seat and the doubles kit seat.

Kiddicare have sent out new material but I am very disappointed as no-one I know that has the older sport or E3 has had this issue and like you I am worried that it will happen again.

Did you contact P&T?

Mine is doing this too. I did wonder if it was because DS2 is very heavy.

I have just emailed P&T using their contacts page on the website.
Will let you know the response

My doubles seat came apart as your has. Mothercare were good about it and ordered me a replacement. It has arrived within 2 weeks. Am yet to pick it up but will be pretty upset if it happens again!
