Couple of questions about the Phil & Teds Sport

I'm thinking about buying one of these. DD3 will be a couple of weeks short of 2 when DB5 arrives in August. It just fits in our tiny boot with all the wheels off!

I haven't tried DD in it (she was asleep when I was looking the other day) but I'm wondering if when the doubles seat is on the front will her head be swallowed up by the hood?!

Also looking at the shopping basket it seems like it will be pretty inaccessible when there's a baby in the back. Is this the case?

i think removing the front wheel every time will be very annoying.

do you still have the zafira? and #5 on the way?

i think maybe a maclaren double would be better for the car.

EldonAve · 25/02/2009 14:10

my tall 2 year old head was stuck in the hood - he fitted but only just

shopping basket is fine, more tricky when you have a big toddler in the back as their feet occupy the basket

it is heavy to lift, mine never goes in the car so not a problem for me

once it is in 2 toddler mode you have to take the back seat off to fold it

Ceolas · 25/02/2009 14:10

Yes I really want a new car but we can't afford it until this time next year

Maclarens are too long and wide. I think my only other options might be Silvercross Pop duo (have a single atm) or M&P twin aria which I've not tried yet. Graco duosport doesn't fit.

My DS was almost too tall for the doubles seat at the front when his newborn DD was in the back.

DD only lasted for 4 1/2 months lying flat in the back before I had to change it round so she could sit in the back seat. Now DS has lots of space in the front.

The shopping basket is a pain, I have handle hooks and order more stuff on-line these days as I can't get it in the P&T.

misdee · 25/02/2009 14:12

dare i suggest a sling and single?

i am fed up of buggis in my zafira, its a right pain, and thats with only 6 seats up and not 7.

Ceolas · 25/02/2009 14:14

I hate the Zafira. Even when we only had 3. But it would be a costly exercise to change and DH won't agree.

I have thought about sling and single, but it rains a lot up here!

i hate it as well.

i want a multipla, but cant afford to change the car.

I have a P&T Sport and it is fab. DS2 is getting a bit too small for the cocoon now at 4 months. Can get a bits in the bottom when ds2 is in but nothing bigger than a small pack of nappies. I walk most places or get the bus. It fits in the boot of our scenic but can't get much else in and with having 3 children now we are on the lookout for an espace or galaxy.

I would not be without my P&T, it has been excellent, it rains lots here so I have the raincover most days. I have the school run to do and it gets the job done with a tantruming 2 year old and a 15 week old.

How far does the doubles seat recline for a little one? Or can you put the bigger one in the back?

OP posts:
EldonAve · 25/02/2009 14:40

it doesn't recline very much
most people stick the larger one in the back - risk is that it will tip

naomi83 · 25/02/2009 18:45

have you seen the baby jogger city mini? it's pretty compant for a side by side and folds in half so takes up less room than a lot of doubles. It's not all terrain, but is great for city needs

Ceolas · 26/02/2009 08:56

Thanks Naomi. I should point out that it's barely a boot at all. With all the seats up I can barely fit my Silver cross pop. It's very narrow indeed. I wonder if the wheels come off the baby jogger?
