My mother is 50 next week and has said she would like a watch for her birthday. Only it can't be any old watch - needs to be one that is suitable for everyday use but will also look nice in the evening. Also she has a problem seeing the numbers on the dial so ideally it needs to be a white dial with large black numbers.

Any ideas? I'd love to get her a nice one but the only one I've seen is in Argos at £20.

Perhaps you could look on ebay. I have just brought a lovely one for £30, brand new, and normal retail would have been abround £80. There are some really lovely ones. DKNY ones are very smart and reasonably priced on there. I know some people don't like the riskiness of it all, but everything I've got from there so far has been a real bargain and in good condition.
