Looking on ebay for a bargain - Sport or E3 which is better? What colour to get? Is it like so many things and certain colours are passe?

I don't mean to put a downer on the P&T at all , I absolutely LOVE the design but I have found the quality of my P&T sport appalling. In fact all but the wheels have been replaced by Out and About (the importer for them in the UK).

So, if I was buying a 2nd hand one on ebay I would go for an E3 model, the doubles seat only reclines a tiny amount on the sport (but enough to make it really awkward for me to push as I'm tall but find the handle too far away from me) so I doubt you would miss this on the E3 but the quality of the E3s seems superior to the P&T. Also worth considering holding off for a month or two as the new P&T Dash model will hit the UK then with a few improvements on the Sport model so I bet a few people with the sport will jump ship and buy the Dash.

Do

nicolamumof3 · 27/09/2008 23:03

yes you are right with the dash, i reckon it will reduce the sport price. i had a fault with the wheel which was immediately rectified but had no other problems so far, my sport is a month old and has lots of use every day. i am a bit ott with keeping it clean though i must admit!

loucee · 27/09/2008 23:37

my list of faults is endless but I think I was unlucky (e.g my main seat was replaced as it had too much fabric on it meaning my newborn was lying with his head lower than his feet!). I'm on my 3rd new main seat now as the replacement's zips broke off but the new one I have now has had a modification to the zips (the bit with the red triangle P&T motif is on the recline bit of main seat). The mesh fabric places on the pram have always frayed as well which has led to mine being replaced then there was the faulty handle where the screws fell on my newborn's head. I would go on but I will bore you all with the faults I've had!

Fadge · 28/09/2008 11:15

crikey Loucee, sounds like yours is an isolated bad batch though, pretty much 95% of the online reviews I have read have been glowing ( apart from lack of shopping space of course!)

OP posts:

Fadge, shopping space isn't something I've ever worried about as I use the two saddle bags either side which are so much easier on your back as well!
There are some mums at a local toddler group that have had some problems with theirs as well but I will say the customer service is fantastic at replacing things. I think P&T would be well to have better final testing before the items get sent out and sold as a lot of things wrong with mine could've been picked up on.

Fadge · 28/09/2008 21:10

Do all the P&T buggies have bumper bars? Theres one I am looking at now and doesn't look like it has one and cannot see the bars that you'd clip the toddler seat to for the newborn postion of main part?
Can I buy them seperately?

OP posts:
nicolamumof3 · 28/09/2008 21:12

Is it a 'classic' these are the cheapest p&t and they have no bumper bar.

loucee · 28/09/2008 21:48

do you have a link to the P&T? I was led to believe they all have bumper bars. My side by side P&T doesn't look like it has a bumper bar but it does

loucee · 28/09/2008 22:15

sorry Nicola, I meant did Fadge have a link to the P&T.

Fadge · 29/09/2008 08:34

s'ok it's been cleared up, the doolies are there for one but she never had one, assume she bought it 2nd hand too then and it's gone astray. I found where I can pick one up anyway

My only complaint about my E3 happened yesterday. They don't have mud guards (but have heard they are rubbish any way) and dh walked through some dogsh*t. Ds managed to get his hands in it. . I bloody hate dogs!

nicolamumof3 · 29/09/2008 08:52

i know what you mean jennster, but its the owners!! drives me mad too!

sasamax · 29/09/2008 22:11

Fadge - if you'd consider a new p&t sport, I was in the glasgow pram centre today and they are selling a camo blue one with doubles seat and cocoon for £299. I've never seen cheaper anywhere. It's prob not on their website as they have these odd discounts in store usually, and they prob only have the 1 so you would need to be very quick on the phone. They post out so you don't need to live near or anything.

Fadge · 30/09/2008 08:33

goodness me sasamax, I wish I lived in Glasgow now!!

will see if it's online.

Whats the difference with a Classic?? Does the toddler seat only go on the back and not on the front?

OP posts:
nicolamumof3 · 30/09/2008 08:44

Fadge that is an amazing bargain!! I thought mine was good at £385!! i would give them a call, the camo blue is lovely!!

sasamax · 30/09/2008 14:15

Don't know anything about the classic I'm afraid.
Very much doubt that one will be online - you'd need to phone and speak to one of the girls in the shop (and quickly as it won't be there for long!!)

nicolamumof3 · 30/09/2008 14:16

agree sasamax. the classic as about £280 so this is so much better!!

sasamax · 30/09/2008 14:26

Defo - only £19 more for the sport - it's a brilliant deal!

nicolamumof3 · 30/09/2008 14:43

yep i was pleased paying £385 for mine (with doubles/raincover/sleeping bag) but would be ecstatic at £299 lol!!

Fadge · 01/10/2008 07:21

had an unexpected bill come in so bye bye phil and teds until at least next pyday sob
