What is the smallest(most economical to run) car that you can fit 2 car seats and an adult passenger in the back of?

Please?
Am expecting DC2 in Jan. Most family outings consist of 2 parents, DC and 1GP- how do other people manage this?

Am I going to have to get a mahoosive car?
I don't really want to for environmental reasons, and once I'm back at work (after a year), 90% of journeys will be just me, or me and DCs commuting.

Don't think 2 cars is the answer- DH doesn't drive.

My current car is very small, and very economical (one of the cheapest to run), but would only fit DH, myself and DCs in maximum.

oh and 207 has isofix in front and back, and automatic child safety locks that are automatic when you start engine. and can be turned on and off from a button on the dash. very handy if you have adult in back as saves you getting out to open door.

I can fit my DH my Mum DS and DD in my car and my Mum's wheelchair in the boot. I have a 5 door 1.5 Suzuki Swift! So small cars are well possible!!

Oooh WM - we were going to test drive the swift as my mum loves them - wants to upgrade from the Alto. But the sales guy told us it was only a 4 seater???? Despite it having 5 doors there was no lapbelt in the back!

spottyshoes - glad you have done some groundwork for me!

The 5 door swift has 3 full belts in the back - honestly! The 3 door only has 2 seatbelts in the back, but I often have a full back seat IYSWIM!

Lots of headroom - I am nearly 6 ft as is DH so we wanted a car we would both be able to sit in the back of!

Love my swift - am a saddo and call it suzuki doo - it is fab round town, parking etc also not bad on a long journey either. I find it economical on petrol and there is bnoot space for either Mum's w/c or a full load of shopping so I am well happy!!

Wouldn't say the Octavia was "really" big - it's built on a Golf - the wheel base is the same but the body is longer - hence more room.

Thankyou! I'll tell my mum - she will be made up

Hi, I am looking for the same thing! What did you find in the end? Does anyone have a C3 Picasso? This is the car I am leaning towards, but want to find someone who can confirm if two car seats and a small adult fit in the back. We are actually at the 1 car seat and 1 high-back booster stage.
