Sick of perfect jeans going baggy after wearing

Yet again I've bought some jeans (Levis this time) which fit perfectly on first wear, then go baggy and never recover their shape even after washing. Fed up of wasting money on jeans that look awful. I generally buy no/low stretch thinking they will retain their shape but it doesn't seem to help.

Can anyone recommend brands which hold their shape long term?

Jeans will always loosen with wear that's the nature of cotton.

If you want something shape hugging you need them to have a bit of lycra, that will help them hold their shape better.

I have several pairs of 100% cotton jeans and they are more of the mom jean look.

I have these from me and em. If I chose I could wear them every day for a month and they’d hold their shape

can I ask are you wearing rhe right size, or potentially wearing too small which means they need to stretch out?

Agree with PP above. I’m the opposite to you and I buy jeans with no elastane because they come out of the wash a bit tighter then after a little while they give and that’s what I’m after. I hate jeans that don’t do this. Most jeans do have elastane though. Before Gap left the high street I had some from there that didn’t give at all and they were always in “potential disposable”’pile. I think they were about 60% cotton for some reason with a bit of elastane and a synthetic thread making up the reason of the mix.

if jeans have some stretch they tend to hold their shape and size better. I was told by a stylist to size down with non stretch jeans as they will inevitably stretch out when worn and this has worked well for me.

You are expecting something unrealistic. 100% cotton jeans stretch, that's what denim does.

Either buy smaller, or buy with stretch. That's why stretch is added!

Denimdreams000 · 21/09/2026 17:53

Ah that must be it then, I thought the non stretch jeans would, you know, not stretch - as in hold their shape

@stormyrose thanks for the recommendation, I havent tried Me+Em. I don't see how I could be buying them too small if they're too big - maybe misunderstood your post?

Not sure, it's just frustrating that they're literally a perfect fit when trying them on and then in no time they've become a complete waste of money

i hv found looking for a thick, rigid feel usually matters more than the blend itself. reformation has a couple tencel blends that hold their own. a weave that doesn't hv so much horizontal stretch can also work

Denimdreams000 · 23/09/2026 11:55

Yeah it's the thick, rigid feel of the non stretch fabric that I like, so I'm drawn to those, but maybe need to rethink it a bit
