Hi, we are coming over to England for a family holiday and doing a few messy activities such as mud larking, clay pigeon shooting etc.

We can’t bring wellies with us as they take up too much room so looking for cheap wellies for adults and kids we can buy in London. We are staying in chalk farm.

Aussie dollar is weak so cheap and cheerful is best! I haven’t bought wellies in England for over 25 years.

Interesting quest! It's very hot here at the moment so you're not likely to find them in stores much (although god knows it could be torrential rain again in a week!). I just had a bit of a look, Sports Direct seem to have loads of very cheap pairs like £6ish, and there's a store in Holloway Road which isn't too far from Chalk Farm. If you order them to be delivered to the store you're going to pay another £4.99 to have them delivered (the whole order) and then you've got to get there to pick them up, too. But could be your best bet. There's lots of other Sports Direct stores not far one of which might be more convenient for you to pick up from, like Oxford Street for instance. Good luck!

I'm cheap so I would clean and pack the wellies. I would use the inside of the wellies to pack/store any cosmetics or socks, small items that may need a little protection or even the swim wear if bringing any. It's probably cheaper and better to leave some of the other clothes etc that would take up room and just buy those here. And let's face it - everyone over packs and then doesn't used half of what has been brought.

Mountain warehouse.

Order and get delivered to your accommodation or a secure mail box?

All those places are a pain if staying in Chalk farm, are you visiting family? Could you ask them to borrow some?

LittlePinkWeed · 23/05/2026 07:15

SportsDirect don't accept returns, so you can't try things on for size/fit at home.

B&Q (DIY chain) stock them year round in their gardening section (in the inside bit, not with the plants outside).

Honestly in this heat I’d be tempted to do crocs instead and trainers that can be washed /dried when holes in shoes are no good.

worth looking on Vinted s and getting delivered to an in post locker. Or cheap Dunlop ones on Amazon to a nearby locker

BlondeFool · 23/05/2026 07:31

Sports Direct in Camden

HoobleDooble · 23/05/2026 07:58

Try googling Shoezone and looking to see if there's a branch near where you'll be.

Tonissister · 23/05/2026 08:06

buy Dunlop ones in Amazon Prime to be delivered to where you are staying. Cheap and durable. Saves wasting a day of holiday shopping for wellies.

Tonissister · 23/05/2026 08:08

But also... good trainers are fine for mud larking and clay pigeon shooting

NeedToKnow101 · 23/05/2026 08:13

Aldi or Lidl!

NeedToKnow101 · 23/05/2026 08:13

Or Decathlon

Do you have an address you could get them delivered to ? Look at Dunlop wellies for cheap and cheerful. I am able to fit the kids sizes which saves on the VAT too.
