My sister bought me a Louis Vuitton Nanogram bracelet for my birthday. It was a really thoughtful gift and not something I would normally buy for myself, so I was genuinely excited about it.
When I first tried it on at home, the clasp popped open once. I assumed that was probably my fault and that I hadn’t fastened it properly. I closed it again and didn’t think much of it.
A few days later I wore it out for the first time. Before leaving the house I actually double checked the clasp because of what had happened before. It seemed completely secure.
I went to work, got home later that evening… and realised the bracelet was gone.
It must have opened again while I was out and fallen off somewhere. I retraced where I’d been but it was obviously long gone by then.
Honestly I felt sick when I realised. Apart from the cost, it was a birthday gift from my sister and I haven’t even told her yet that it’s gone because I feel so awful about it.
What’s made it worse is that when I contacted Louis Vuitton they basically said there was nothing they could do.
Since then I’ve started looking online and I’ve seen other people describing the exact same thing happening with LV bracelets – the clasp opening during normal wear or when flexing your wrist.
For something at that price point I assumed the fastening would be extremely secure. Losing it the very first time I wore it outside the house just feels unbelievable.I’m curious if anyone else has had this happen with the Nanogram bracelet or any of the LV bangles where the clasp opens unexpectedly.
If you have, I’d genuinely be interested to know:
- did it just pop open randomly?
- did LV do anything to help?
- were you able to get a replacement or repair?
Would really appreciate hearing other people’s experiences.
