Help me find a ‘nice top’ that’s not £198…

I have chocolate brown loafers and jeans, and I’d like to find a nice top to go with them for a birthday dinner.

I made the mistake of going into Reiss yesterday and I love this - it picks up the brown tones I’m looking for to complement my shoes but I cannot spend £198 on a top. Has anyone seen anything similar?

Thanks everyone for all your brilliant suggestions (and for the informative chat about viscose!!). I have bought a Jigsaw silk blouse for a tenner from Vinted - so we'll see! Otherwise I will be panic ordering one of the other fabulous ones here.

Excellent - I hope it's lovely! Post a photo please??

I have always found Jigsaw silk (Jigsaw everything, actually) to be really good quality. And some really lovely patterns.

I still have some from about 15 years ago where they commissioned some artists/textile designers I think to do one-off hand-painted designs. Really lovely & haven't dated at all.

I sometimes think people confuse viscose with man made fibres like acrylic and polyester. Viscose is a natural fibre. Tencel by Lenzing is a premium cloth. It hangs and drapes beautifully.

Viscose is made from wood fibres that can be grown on poor quality soil, unlike cotton, and uses far less water in its production than cotton. I'd take Tencel over cheap silk or cotton.

Viscose shrinks every time you wash it and has to be blocked back into shape after every wash. I had a whole bunch of reversible viscose skirts from White Stuff that I binned because I got sick of having to block them.

A synthetic made of cellulose is still a synthetic. It's biodegradable, which is good for when it ends up in landfill when you get sick of having to stretch it under a steam iron just to wear it.

None of my Tencel dresses from Palava have ever shrunk or needed blocking. At most a very light iron.

@mumofboysinlondon if the Vinted blouse doesn't work, how about this one? I saw it in Next earlier and it caught my eye - the colours reminded me of your original Reiss top www.next.co.uk/style/su830986/h85911
