Looking for gift ideas. Younger relative has had first baby via emergency c section. They live a long distance away so I can't visit but would like to send something helpful, useful, thoughtful. My dc are all grown up snd i never had a c section so hoping those with more recent, relevant experience can advise

Not flowers, I love flowers and remember watching them die as couldn't look after them.

Friend sent me box of tray bakes from local artisan bakery - still making me smile 4 years later. Cousin sent me a disco ball and told me to put it by bed. It often bought me 10 extra minutes in bed as baby watched lights.

On the flip side, I bloody LOVED all the flowers I got, my home was like a florist shop, it was divine… but I did swiftly task visitors with sorting/chucking them as needed whenever they were around.
The best things for me were a loooong phone charging cable, one of those felt nappy caddies (well I had two actually, one for beside the bed and one for beside the sofa!) as when they were filled with nappies, wipes, cream, a water bottle, snacks etc etc I didn’t have to move when I was feeding or nap-trapped, and a really decent insulated water bottle (to go in said caddy!), the type with a fold up straw, so I didn’t need to keep tipping it up but it wouldn’t leak if knocked over while I wasn’t drinking from it.
Also pretty pyjamas. The loose jersey kind, button up shirt and elasticated waist trousers, I think mine were H&M. But it’s nice to feel like you look okay, even when you’re not leaving the house much and you feel repulsive!
