I am new to vinted - is the person I have bought from a fraud account?

I only started buying and selling on Vinted on Monday. I have just tried to click onto an order that I bought from and it is showing the account has been blocked and I’m not able to click onto the picture of my order (see pictures).
I thought this was a legit site and fraud couldn’t be committed in anyway as they don’t get paid until the buyer has received the order? Any ideas please on what this could be or am I over thinking? Thanks in advance!

They’ve probably been selling fake goods and had been banned. You’ll get your money back don’t worry.

Biosblbay · 27/11/2025 15:59

@Prelim it gives me the option to cancel the order, should I do that?

This happened to me this week and I’ve been on Vinted for a long time. There was nothing that made me suspicious. I did indeed receive the parcel (despite the member being blocked) and it was dirty cardboard that had been peed on judging by the smell of it so I’ve reported it and waiting for a refund. You’ll get your money back but it’s bloody annoying.

@TheFormidableMrsC. Am I best cancelling this as the seller hasn’t posted it yet? I did think people could just send an empty package and manage to get away with it! Or even send something that you didn’t actually agree to buy!

I don’t think you can now because the seller has to agree which they can’t if they’ve been banned. You can try though. I would immediately message Vinted though, which is what I did. Then I got tracking notification so had to wait for the parcel. If the seller hasn’t sent it, then Vinted may intervene or they may tell you to wait and see if the package is sent. Remember also they sometimes ban sellers they think are being fraudulent but they’re not. It’s a minefield. I’m so careful I couldn’t believe I was caught!

OP HERE - I have just cancelled the order with the reason “suspected fraud as account had been blocked” and I did not realise the seller will see this as they have to confirm the reason!! 😩 what do I do!

Oh and they also addressed it to a person who wasn’t me and sent it to my neighbour. Weirdly, it still ended up on my doorstep. They want people to just be too busy to check and click “all is ok” after which you’re buggered unfortunately.

You will just have to wait for it to process. If they don’t send the transaction will be cancelled and if they do, you’re going to have to sit it out and see what arrives. This is rife at the moment unfortunately.

Exact same thing happened to me on Vinted this week. As soon as I paid I checked back to the item, and had same message as you ‘ something went wrong,‘content not found’. I requested to cancel but system won’t let me, as seller has to agree. I’m hoping that once it shows as not sent on Vinted system, an automatic refund will happen. Such as shame as all previous experience on Vinted was great.

Biosblbay · 28/11/2025 21:22

@ThatCyanJoker let me know what happens! I still haven’t heard from my seller either so hoping for the same that it won’t get sent!

Yes, this exact scenario has just happened to me, and Vinted won’t refund me. I spent £40 on a dress and a small plastic thing was sent to a different name but with my address. I didn’t connect the two at all, then the dress showed as delivered, I was away for the weekend but DH at home, so he was checking neighbours etc, as that happens occasionally, I suddenly realised what might have happened, checked the bar code numbers and saw the weird small thing was via Vinted. Penny dropped but I had missed the “problem” button by an hour, which is obviously what they do deliberately.
Vinted have been shockingly unhelpful, I seem to be getting AI responses. Not sure what to do next.

I would tell the chat bot you want to speak to a human. Once I’ve got through I’ve found them helpful but agree getting through is an absolute pain.

IwanttoWFH · 29/07/2026 19:33

If you click on their profile, does it say “member blocked”?

This happened to me. I bought a pair of adidas shorts. They turned up in the wrong size and were obviously fake. I clicked on the order and got the same error message as you. Clicked on their profile and it said, “member blocked” which means Vinted have suspended their account.

It took me over two weeks and multiple messages to Vinted support to get my money refunded.

They will still have access to their account, so they can still send it to you. My seller was shown as online but ignored my order dispute.

They will have to accept you cancelling the order or, if they don’t send it, you will get an automatic refund. Let’s hope they don’t send it, as it’s probably fake and then you’ll have the same rigmarole I did, trying to get your money back.

Thanks I will try that.

The scam account is still up on Vinted, I am shocked that they haven’t suspended this person.
