Ruined Bugaboo Cameleon Hood by washing following instructions ............

I followed the instructions on the label etc to wash my set of red cameleon fleece covers, and everything came out fine, including the foot muff EXCEPT the HOOD !! It has come out all crinkly and won't straighten out, feels like the plastic inside has melted (only washed at handwash as recommended)...... what do you suggest ? Have another set of poshbugs stuff which can use for now, but expecting another baby and if its a boy, will need to go back to my original red covers.

Any ideas ? If I was it again then leave it to dry on the frame, could that work ? Anyone had this experience ?????

P.S: Don't want to have to tell DH as he'll flip !! Wasn't impressed when I bought spare set of poshbugs covers !!

What plastic inside? (Is while since I sold mine) If you washed according to instructions tho phone or email bugaboo and they should replace it I think.

plastic????
is it fleece or fabric?
mine wash no probs?
am confused? Is this official bugaboo item? I find they wash fabulously well

Hi, Bugaboo did produce a batch of fleece hoods that went wonky in the wash!

The fire retardancy coating of this batch reacts badly to washing and the inner and outer layers of fleece stick together.

Take it back to your Bugaboo dealer and they should replace it. Bugaboo will then replace their stock or credit them.

PinkPussyCat · 02/06/2008 08:24

I was just about to put mine in the wash this morning... not done so yet after reading this!

Teaandcake, mine is a 2007 model, when is the dodgy batch from?

OP - I think Bugaboo should replace it for you - let us know how you get on.

Teaandcake · 02/06/2008 09:25

PPC, It could be. There is a batch number on the label of your hood. Make a note of it and phone Bugaboo to find out if it is one of the faulty ones.

I'm at home today so can't phone them to find out I'm afraid.

Thanks T+C, will check!

Thanks very much folks. I am hoping to take it in to my local Mothercare at wkend, but might give bugaboo a call first with the batch number. I bought it just over 2 years ago (March 06) but rarely used the fleece hood as had replacement set of covers (hence why only washed it recently !). Will update with their reply etc....

How did you get on with this? i brought some new fabrics from someone on ebay and they handwashed them before sending them to me, but the hood and the apron has gone wrinkly and puckered. someone just directed me to this thread, am going to contact Bugaboo tomorrow,

Jenks1234 · 08/10/2015 12:26

Hi. Can anyone tell me what the outcome was to the threads below even though it was such a long time ago? My Bugaboo Cameleon hood went similarly crinkly after washing. It has been in storage since. It was also purchased circa 2006. I contacted Bugaboo and they denied all knowledge. I have two hoods that have done exactly the same and I following washing instructions to the letter. Can it be cured? If anyone can help I would be extremely grateful.
